Just had the first big immigrant wave to my first fortress since we went to 20 to 40 dwarves. There are now 73, so no goblins. Yet. Think that food production can cope, and am glad that this happened after the werebull elf showed up, but very nervous.

Also, all my dwarves have promised to not to tell them about the walled-up glassmaker in a strange mood in the dungeons/stockpiles. Just hope the humans bring sand next visit. Making traps right now.

My first Atom Smasher!

And after a few days, the game crashed. It was inevitable.

But... There are no female dragons in this world!

On another note, it turns out I was wrong about the marksdwarf because dwarves live to 170 not 160. Also, a magma crab born in my fort just gave birth to more magma crabs. Is there any way to catch magma crabs? What do they like?

Might be able to cage them, if you trap the edges of magma pools. Though I don't believe they are tamable by default.

Not quite sure how you could bait them into the traps though.

You know what? That might be my next megaproject. Making an artificial magma pool, since I don't have one.

I also finished my bigger dining hall and set it as a meeting zone. A few seconds later, one of my starting seven throws a party. Dwarves.

Magma crabs can be caught, yes, but are not tameable. Unless you mod them into pet_exotic's.

Copied save, retired fort, copied legends, and unretired fort just to see what would happen.

Not much has happened in the world since last year, except the fire imps and lion tamarin men are getting owned by goblins.

Things I noticed upon unretiring Bastiongate:
1. Everything fell out of containers. There are piles of dye and pools of alcohol on the floor everywhere. The food stockpile is full of loose prepared meals and empty bags.
2. Everything is unclaimed. Dwarves rushed to put their XX=smoke weed fiber socks=XX in the refuse pile.
3. All my captives are gone.
4. The forgotten beast is still there. Good thing I didn't put him in a cage.
5. Three tribes of cave fish men moved in.
6. Apparently I managed to get a few more galena from somewhere.
7. The units list is in a different order, both dwarves and pets.
8. All my animals are everywhere. A GDSling just killed a green devourer in the third cavern.
9. No more outpost liaison and baron, I think they moved back to the capital.
10. I'm also missing another one of my marksdwarves, I'll have to check who it was in the other save.
11. All my artifacts are unmarked except the ones being wielded at the time. I still have them all in my vault, though.

So yeah, I'm not retiring and unretiring unless I really, really have to.

Started a new fort with the intentions of making a site for an archaelogical themed adventurer map, found adamantine in first cavern layer dead centre of map. Mined it, hfs LITERALLY 3 WEEKS AFTER SETTLING! Reclaimed, no demons on map. Gonna get some hella cool cotton candy gear for adventurers as well as some good companions. Might settle hell too and explore that. DEMON SOAP! Will take suggestions.

I had my first encounter with a Werebeast Spiral.
It didn't end well.

In one of my werebeast spirals, I got a full moon right when everyone was hauling stuff to the depot, so they were all bunched up together.

I went from ~150 dwarves to 20 in real-time seconds.

My mayor just claimed a mason's workshop and he wants FIVE units of bone. I don't care if it's a possession, this artifact is going to be great.

I retired and found out one of the dorf I killed was the leader of a goblin siege squad, she was 13 years old.
And her great grandfather is still alive.

My military sucks at marksmanship. The duchess is better than all of them, but even her hunting is a bit of animal cruelty; it's never a clean kill. She always chips them down bit by bloody bit, and may or may not come back later with a reload. After I carved some fortifications overlooking the FB, it took awhile for them to notice and start firing. I don't know how many bolts they deposited, but there's a lot of masterwork silver laying around.

I probably should have waited for my engravers to finish before provoking it; they got freaked out and went on strike for quite a while after that. But they got the top row shooting gallery done, and enough of the bottom for a catapult to fire through, so I left that on fire at will for my demented operators to haul stones from everywhere. I wish that trained their strength, because they certainly aren't getting smarter.

That is how marksdwarf works now.
I usually disable hunting because it is more efficient to use melee dorfs.
But marksdwarves are still good at shooting keas and buzzards, hehe.
