Well the fortress will be slightly like a post-apocalyptic town,

It will have a separate house for every citizen and it will as well have a large Inn for Migrants it will have a large capital hall as well as a seperate house for all major workshops (Metals in one house, Wood in another etc.

So should i probably double the size of the fortress

Apparently the slayer of three forgotten beasts's title is "The Tame Dike of Cremation".
What.

Attempting to rebuild with exactly half of my former population, five of which are babies. Somehow none of them are unhappy enough to tantrum. Just hit the second cavern layer and found a magma tube, setting up forges now.

Wait for a forgotten beast or a titan.
If you almost Fun once, the game will make sure you Fun even more.

My last fort died a fairly innocuous FPS/boredom death. It's time for a new embark! I have cliffs, a volcano, trees, buttloads of ores, and... large clusters of raw adamantine poking out the sides of the mountain??

My raws are so weird. At least gearing up my military won't be hard.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Speaking of starting new fortresses i just started up my new above ground fortress in the Corrosion Mod

It is a flat map that is forested and so far has confirmed Iron and Coal Minerals the only issue is this map is riddled with Scavengers (People who have not been infected yet but are crazy and feral and travel in large groups.)

They are not very dangerous alone but they tend to travel in groups of 15+ which can cause major issues they are currently wandering around a cave in a mountain which is on the other side of the map but either way i will have to clear them out sooner or later because i have noticed if you leave them there more start arriving.

Seems Dwarf Fortress allows... fariytale descriptions. Here's a statue standing at the entrance of my fort:
Quote
This is a superior quality microcline statue of Ūn Smolderleather.
The item is a superior designed image of Ūn Smolderleather the black bear in microcline by Kloel Ofesonie. Ūn Smolderleather is laboring. The artwork relates to the settling of the black bear Ūn Smolderleather in The Forest of Realms in 6.

The king hath arrived.
Time to see if I can give him and the Countess the same quarters through clever usage of chairs, tables, and beds...

So more dorfs died, population is 7. Lost four dorfs to zombie elk, lost my grower to suicide by zombie, lost my expedition leader to murder...

Just finished my above ground fort,

Won't spike traps be triggered by dorfs and caravans?

spike traps can only be triggered remotely using a pressure plate or lever, SO there really should be any worry about friendly fire.

I think I got a little crazy with the modding. better make my dwarves fire immune so the pets don't roast them.
