I don't even know which mod that is. Is it still Masterwork?

Yeah. I bought a bunch of muskets and ammo from the humans, and the squad was unstaffed so the four closest dorfs were sent after the mummy.

Two Words:

Mayor Necromancer.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And yes. It's an enemy of my civ, but was listed as friendly when I embarked on top of its tower, and walled it and its evil dwarf murdering friends inside, SCP style. My dwarves have NEVER met it. Yet, Mayor.

Must be them swanky silvertongued rats politicians in the walls. The dwarves can't help but be swayed by their scheming political strategies of immortality and their undead armies of mud-slinging brain-eating supporters.

a milker just headshoted an enraged badger with an iron bolt. the badger's still not dead for some reason. usually headshots equals instant death. i saw its status. it's brain was torn.

on the bright side, i now have a breeding badger population. This is the first time i had breeding animals. all the other i had were either all male or female.

how much do badgers give you in terms of meat?

Nah, they'll be fine.

It's odd how much easier it is to keep carnivores in captivity vs. herbivores.  I just imagine that the carnivores are getting fed by the dwarves, but then the same should hold for the herbivores if there isn't a nearby food supply.  It would be neat if animal food consumption (beyond beer-guzzling bears) was implemented.  Rock nuts would make a great food for elephants :)

Okay I just hit 100 dwarves and 95% of the migrants with melee combat skills are "competent".
Is there a civilization that has made an army of dwarven unsullied?

There have been fortresses where the majority of citizens were marksdwarves, but I haven't seen the same done with speardwarves.  Sounds like you have a fun angle to explore for yours!  Keep us posted!

On my latest romp on the Suika Fortress mod, I've got a giant siege with goblins ridding on jabberers and all sorts of unpleasant monsters coupled with eight cave dragons hungering for flesh and blood, and I was stupid enough to face the entire army head on with my militia because I wanted to save the merchants (who fled anyway).

I repelled it with minimal losses (Eleven Legendary fighters, with one lost hand and a few miscellaneous injuries and bruises), but I still can't get over the fact that one of my legendary marksmen was not only stupid enough to walk outside, but the river also unfroze at the wrong moment, drowning said marksman and almost drowning another legendary fighter (she had lost hold of her crutch from the resulting battle. How she managed to crawl out of the deadly waters while limping on one leg is unfathomable, but at the same time, very awesome.)

Also, high amounts of savagery seems to produce migrants with competent combat skills, but I think civilizations are wiped out more easily as well. Might have to give that wiki a look.

Awesome, indeed!  What's her name (and title if she has one)?

I named her Ferain, occupation/title being 'soldier"

She was the only one out of the four soldiers I started out with who survived so far.

Funfact: She's a high master swordsman and professional knife user. She'd racked up 70+ kills on a crummy, no quality silver dagger looted from a kobold, whereas her extravagant masterwork steel sword only has...20 kills.

I don't understand, but she doesn't want to part with it. So I just...roll with it.

Lol, she fights dirty!  Makes the enemy concentrate on her sword, the sneaks in with a shiv attack.  With such high skills, does she have an actual title yet?  You know, the long-winded ones that some dwarves get after a while.  The RNG comes up with some crazy combos.

"'Ferain' Merchanttool the Ferocious Shade of Sanctuaries"

I don't know about the shade of sanctuaries part, but she sure is ferocious.

Edit: On another note, I've gotten myself a haul of these...fire breathing orinrin hakutakus. They look like this:

http://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/1067596?tags=sukusuku_hakutaku+kaenbyou_rin

Now, as much as I'd like to butcher ten of these adorables whose uncaptured brethren had burned half my legendary marksmen to death, I want to instead weaponize them.

The problem is, they're grazers. They graze as bad as cows. This makes me consider just what sort of death machine I need to build up that includes grass for upkeep.
