So it's laying hand eggs in your dwarves, which then hatch into hando-xenomorphs?

Project Rebuild the Mountainhome goes well. Aquifer is penetrated, spirits are high, and im getting way, WAY more migrants than I expected. Got a pretty even mix of genders, and due to the small living space everyone has paired up, and 3 marriages have happened so far this year.

Got a caravan from the other dwarven civ, so I guess The Roughness of Empires was more prosperous than I knew from Legends.

I was going for the creepy vibe part(maybe any number of movies that actually use a possessed hands would have been better). As for xenomorphs, thank Armok so far no, but if it manage to kill any of my dwarfs, the illusive necromancer puppeteer might ~this come true.

I have just generated a 1050 year-old medium-sized region world with a total of 44 towers of various forms of magical secrets. This is going to be one awesome world to start a fort in!

Minotaur got into the fort and nicked a backpack off one of my militia. Then;

Dwarf Fortress is a fun game. Needless to say, all but one of the dwarves died, one close to death.

A goblin ambush of a dwarven work party was foiled by one of the fortress cats.   :o

The dwarves were working in a ditch just outside an entrance gate when the goblins (hammer goblin and five crossbow goblins) fired a long range and ill-aimed salvo at the Feline Overlord who was supervising the work.  The dwarves immediately scampered inside and some other areas were evacuated in the surface area while the militia squads were sent for to defend the gate and some markdwarves headed for the ramparts.

The goblins, for the most part, bypassed the fortress entrance in their continued pursuit and firing of crossbows at the cat.  This continued half-way around the surface bunker perimeter; at which point the goblins suddenly changed course and ran from the embark area - with the cat in pursuit!   ;D

By the time the militia was gathered the goblins were well away except for the one that wandered into the traps by the fort entrance and got three limbs chopped off.

It turns out that Squidworms has no neighbours other than a Dwarven civilisation. No goblinite, then. :(

But hey, looks like it'll be a good place to experiment with peacetime.

I'm most amused by the fact that the minotaur was called Tolis Snotspittle the Muck of Thundering.

So to recap, one minute everything was going just great, and the next we have caverns collapsing, firebreathing cave beasts, underground brush fires, a screaming swarm of poltergheists back for revenge, zombies in the corridors, drunken brawls in the dining halls, magma pouring into the caverns, rotting miasma everywhere, insanity, madness, and a flying crocodile heading right towards us!

Playing a cobald fortress. Despite all the buggy bits, it's kinda entertaining. Since cobalds always come with natural skill in ambushing and archery, they always show up with the hunting labor turned on with the exception of miners and woodcutters. So, a kid migrated, and brought himself a crossbow and some bolts, and proceeded to go practice his hunting. His first kill; a monitor lizard. Kid's hauling it back to the fort now. Must be immensely proud of himself. Once he unloads his full quiver, though, he likely won't continue to hunt until he's an adult.

Horror! The kid was nearly hauled away by a snatcher! The militia and war trog team brought it down, and freed him, but damnit, kid!

Why do you call them cobalds? It seems odd.

What he said. Cobalds are a modified version of kobolds, part of a mod I uploaded a long time ago that nobody else really seemed to enjoy. I still slowly work on parts of it when I realize something isn't right and generate all my worlds with the files in the raws.

My three-year-old fort is becoming slowly less interesting to run. Considering I am already swimming in iron, i should make a fort entirely out of iron, but I can't get motivated enough.

On a more interesting note I have had my first goblin siege ever. It was exceedingly big, although not much was lost. My 12-dwarf all-high master military curbstomps everything Fortress Defense II sends at me (only gobs, frogmen, dark stranglers, and ferric elves though, for now), maybe i'll open up Hell sometime.

Yeah, I'm trying to cover my whole embark in blood. It's taking a long time.

Just drop goblins from above, maybe aiming for other goblins. After all, the irony would be delicious, in more ways then one.

So I picked a neat little embark with both a volcano and a river. I dug out an entrance hall around the volcano, then filled the level below it with water and dug some channels and wells. Now I have a heated cistern. Currently working on getting some soap made so that I can turn the entrance hall into a public bath house.

It's only year nine, so everyone's at peace. Once I get my military up and running I'm going to start seizing goods from the Elven caravans, see if I can't get a nice war going. I have no idea how I'm going to piss off the goblins, though. They send snatchers even though we're at peace, but I want them to send ambushes and sieges too...
