A thief bumped into my broker and sliced the stomach of my broker ... Broker cancels trade at Trade Depot: Unconscious.

Great!

DUe to desperation to get defenses prepared as soon as possible, and due to my forgetting the home caravan arrives in summer... I enabled fastdorf/human to get quarrying and building done faster. I'm ashamed of me, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Found gold, magnetite, fuel ores of both kinds, if only humans could make steel....

Check this out, homedorfs:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

What you're looking at there used to be a huge magnetite deposit surrounded by chalk.

Above ground Human fort is going well, I have Hemetite, Limestone, and Coal. Then I remembered only Orcs and Dwarves can make steel in my world.
On the bright side I have plenty of Stone blocks and wall construction is going well, I only need to selt up a basic bridge system and I can seal myself in for constrution....
THIEF PROTECT THE HOARD FROM SKULKING FILTH(This Kobold ran away with nothing)
THIEF PROTECT THE HOARD FROM SKULKING FILTH(This Kobold scratched a farmer then got its hand ripped off by war dogs)
THIEF PROTECT THE HOARD FROM SKULKING FILTH (This Kobold got ripped apart, but not before face stabbing a dog)
Welp, glad that's over now onto this bridge.

My most favourite of all dorfs, the first of them to earn a name, the first and only Champion of the Bronzemark, Monom (surname forgotten) The Gloved Inferno of Birds, not-quite-legendary speardwarf, killer of seven kobolds, fifty-three goblins, one human and a panda that looked at her in a funny way, who lost her right hand to a goblin master thief early in her career and didn't bother going to the hospital, has finally been shuffled off her mortal coil.

It finally took a web-spraying forgotten beast by the name of Alen Raincoats to take her down, but I maintain that if she hadn't been trapped in a single urist wide corridor at the time things would have turned out very differently, and Alen Raincoats would have got a spear through his head for his troubles.

First year is drawing to a close, and with the sizable autumn migrants, with a strong 10 year old girl and several fairly young soldiers with at least 1-3 kills and several elderly veterans who still have some fight in them, I find myself in a fairly panicky way. I know for a fact there's an ample supply of iron ores, but I need to find it. I may also breach the caverns (my second time doing so as humans) for the supplies and fighting beasts to turn loose on the modbolds. Ordinarily my main concern is goblin attacks, but Corai informs me Kobolds are renkown for coming in rediculous numbers to make up for thier weakness.

The two oldest of four kids, Angir and Icar, are both physically strong with good spatial sense, and, in a way to make them easy to spot when they come of age and ina way to make them seem destined already for war, they have both been given the title of Swordgirl, while the oldest Boy has been labeled, until he earns a title, Swordrunt. Defenses are being errected, more barracks being outfitted, and walls thickened for my own aesthetic pleasure. Farms are being set up, four medium plots, to expand as eeds or needs increase.

First mood among the humans and I have to keep forbidding metal ores so she won't fucking take my food and weapon money and make a braclet out of it.

EDIT: A crown. A fucking crown. She tried to turn vital war material into a crown. Man am I glad I forbade all the ores till she had all the stone she wanted.

My fortress is going alright.  I have a diorite block wall that goes around most of the map, and a building connected to that wall contains my trade depot and the broker/mayor's quarters/office/dining room.

Outside the walled in area is my archers' fortified barracks.  I have two marksdwarf squads and several melee squads, plus one squad made just for teenagers whose parents are soldiers.  This is probably the largest military I've ever had, but I've had no sieges.  Probably because so many of my resources are devoted to blocks and building construction, instead of things that create more wealth.

My Captain of the Guard appears to be a vampire.  He fits the usual profile, being a "former member" of many entities and lots and lots of skills.  Interestingly, when the "beatings" he delivers prove to be fatal, they don't show up on his kill list  (That is, he still doesn't have one).  I assume this is a bug related to vampires' kills being hidden.

I he didn't mean to kill them or was off duty it won't register anyway. I've had wrestlers both intentionally and unintentionally kill people in thier squads, the intended deaths showing up on thier kill list.

He was administering justice.  I'm pretty sure those deaths are normally added to the Captain's kill list, but not considered murders.  Now they are all on the justice screen as unsolved murders.
