Since I'm playing from year 2, nothing is really going on in Claspbitten, besides of a few goblin ambushes.
Although my people have been constantly complaining about the sun, flies and the whole environment surrounding them. They felt rather awkward running in the green/bloody landscapes.

So after those 6 prosperous years, the decision has been made and has been announced on the main square of the fortress.
Behold the creation of Khazad-dum! We're moving underground!

And so the preparations have began, and are working out really great. Every mason has been called, and is giving his own plump helmets to the cause.
It's about time to isolate ourselves from the outside world, and conquer the still unknown underworld.

Question, with pressure pads, is it possible to have a minimum weight requirement? That is, if I burrow children into a room, then make a floodgate that only opens via an adult dwarf exiting, I can have a safe zone for children?
Yes you can do that, make sure it's set to be triggered by citizens.

The adults will not attempt to use the floodgate-door, though, because it will not register as an acceptable route to anywhere. And the children will bumrush the gate the instant it DOES open.

So children don't respect burrows?

And what if I cause the adults to be drafted and station them one at a time on the pressure pad? Nah, way too much micromanagement for such little bonus.

The kids can roam around as long as they don't bring in infernal ash fever.

Finally, some ambushes happened, all got cut into pieces though.

Then, a minotaur appeared and did not step into my fortress, he was waiting at the edge of my bridge, not even thinking about stepping on my platinum floor tile. After not moving for 1 month I raised the bridge, minotaur = deceased.

Though, he killed a migrant while he was outside, one that just did not want to go inside. Don't know why, but now after the minotaur is gone some dwarfes move outside for a break. WTF? They got a nice meeting hall and dining room, lots of stuff to haul, but well.

Oh, and I caught 2 vampires. One is now operating my magma pump, he can't leave the place though, hrhr.

I don't think I've ever seen that happen in .31 + before...

Alak, dwarven deity, takes the form of a male dwarf and is associated with fame. He has no historical figure worshippers or any history at all on his description. I suppose he is also associated with the lack of fame...

And my mayor is a vampire. Who'da thunk it?

Dang, a sparring injury. Haven't seen one of those since 40d, personally. On the plus side, it's just the one hand!

Sparring injurie can be extremly common place without proper armor if they get knocked around. I had one settlement that had three deaths in three months as a result of bad throws during wrestling training until I got them some leather armor and helmets so they'd stop breaking ribs and killing recruits.

Settlement is going well, first year in and all human-capable industries are up. Going to add in a well and divirt some river water for a well, and dig irrigation channels so i can start farming. 1st squad is training, composed of three people in thier 30's so they have nice long military careers ahead of them, all geard in iron, though since I need fuel fully kitting them out is slow going. But they got helmets, mail shirts and sords so it works. I just gave them wooden shields cause they're cheaper than metal ones. Oh, and a flock of ravens has been largly captured but there's three running about occasionally scaring people gathering wood.

I know the spring migrant wave will be a big one, cause a few platinum deposits resulted in 7k exported wealth in the summer. I hope I get a few migrants in thier middle age or early to late teens, cause I don't want soldiers dying of old age out of nowhere, though I got a couple centenials in my settlment, one a particularly tough old bitch who's killed 73 goblins and 9 trolls with a crossbow. Gonna have her train up some kids into marksmen when/if I get the chance.

Throws and dodging are one thing, I've never seen a legit "I just stabbed you in the hand" sparring injury.

Yep I that was my first sparring injury in this version too. In my previous fort, I had embarked with two soldiers/teachers/students and they both got legendary before second spring without a problem. One of them got his foot bitten off by elven war bear in spring though. I guess this time problem was that I gave prof dodger and adequate swordsdwarf to the same dwarf. The injured one was armor/shield user none of which I had in the second month of fortress history.

Either way it may be the result of inadequate protection. Or the recruits legitmatly may forget it's practice and try to kill eachother at times. One of those wrestling deaths I'm sure was intentional...

EDIT: Well with a population spike of 28 people and the first of several impending births, the population is now at 49. I've configured the main infantry (longswords) Marksmen/Snipers (crossbowmen) "Hunters" (Bowmen, as I got a bowman  in his late 70s. Gotta pass them skills on!) And the townwatch, who'll be less well off with bronze gear I'll have to import. And Since I have found both magnetite and coal, I can at least kit them out in good human fashion with several meteric tons of iron.

Due to a forgotten need of blocks to make the hospital floor, the hospita is slow going. Oh, and I may hate elves for thier snobish ways, but giant leopards do much to improve diplomatic relations....

The stockpile set exclusively for adamantine strands has been inundated with bins of other cloth. At no point did it ever accept that.

All effort has been to produce as much clothing as possible recently, something i had neglected to keep on-top of earlier. The moat around the outer wall has just been finished and is in the process of filling, and the tower that will be housing the barracks is almost complete. On my to-do list is to execute the backlog of goblin prisoners that have been building up, smooth over the bedrooms and add another cabinet to each, find another use for the second vampire i've sealed in and finish the roads

Give him a pile of bolts, a crossbow, and keep him locked in a  tower outside for eternity.
