If I ever saw a turkey shake a dragon around, I would crap my pants in fear of said turkey.

Embarked on a evil mountain permanently coated in a thick layer of snow and a cold taiga. Found out very quickly how annoying undead birds can be. Was forced inside very quickly and I didn't have all the facilities that I normally have after a few seasons embark because I was dealing with the birds and war dogs coming back to life. Tried pitting the unneeded pets into a volcano along with the corpses of the recently deceased. I didn't have enough dwarf power to finish before they forced me to lock myself inside the mountain. Now I have dead dwarfs coming back to life everywhere and my 'offal hole' has just overflowed with undead birds. and a berserking dwarf has slaughtered anyone who was remotely useful in crafting. I had 21 dwarfs at my peak. Now have 11. Might see how this plays out

EDIT: Beakwolf siege and now down to 3. A squad of dwarfs are making a last stand in the food stockpile
EDIT2: One dwarf. Let it be known that Sakzul Sigununal fought honourably, while fleeing the dozen or so zombie dwarfs and dogs at her feet.
EDIT3: She has 5 notable kills of 4 undead dwarfs and 1 undead dog. and 12 other kills.

Attempts to tame the last siege's Voracious Cave Crawlers and Cave Crocodiles has resulted in an appropriate amount of Fun!

... A tantrum spiral has kicked off :/

Dear Armok! The downfall of an entire society due to tantrumming, two hundred and fourty killed.
There are two survivors...

1) A vampire who is 'hiding' down an abandoned mine-cart-shaft (was originally started to allow for brining magma to surface using minecarts - not tried it yet ). He has three dwarf kills (during the tantrum spiral).
He is also now mayor, of whatever is left.

2) A fisherdwarf (who may also be a vampire - no health nor status problems even after a collosal fight), dutifully bringing in the harvest. He has 9 dwarf kills ( during the tantrum cascade )

The fort now more resembles a slaughterhouse than anything else.

If anyone wants the save as it is now I can post it:
 - Limonite
 - River
    mist generator
    siege drowner (manual operation atm)
 - dug to semi-moten-rock but not exposed candy/magma yet.

I think my dwarves - and dwarves in general - would thoroughly enjoy this song.

Who knows, maybe they'll have a final happy thought before they're used as cannon fodder or as a sacraficial lamb.

5 years into a new fort.

Steel industry is booming through the Goblin Christmas presents left during Spring and Autumn, and the damnable Elves are at war with my civ (first time for that) and Humans have all been wiped out (also first time for that). 3 legendary sworddwarves are busy teaching their craft to more recruits, who are learning shockingly quickly.

Last elven ambush (6 squads total, 2 warbear squads, 3 archer squads, 2 melee of varying types) were absolutely DESTROYED by a total of 6 sworddwarves, ranging in skill from legendary to novice. They had covering fire from the archer tower, and bumrushed right into the archer squads, killed the leader, and routed the rest of the elves.

Sadly, no elves went into my deathtrap (one of those hatch-over-pit-linked-to-pressure-plate in front of weapon traps of doom followed by pressure plate linked to hatch over pit contraptions, that forces the enemy to path over the traps many times) but still, 6 sworddwarves seriously wrecked some elves without A SINGLE INJURY.

Damn. Didn't even danger room them.

My baron/broker is too happy to move.

He's married to the mayor/manager/organizer (both were members of my starting 7), most of their furniture requirements are satisfied, every mandate has been met (they both like bismuth bronze, so a single "make bismuth bronze bars" job can satisfy 2 mandates simultaneously), and their room qualities are Royal, due to the 3 artifacts lying around (their throne room doubles as the fort's dining hall).

His only active labor is Architecture, she has none at all except what recordkeeping/managerial duties pop up. Last year, they were in danger of losing the mayoral election, so I burrowed them to their suite & didn't order any new buildings requiring architecture--thus maximizing their time to socialize. From that time to this, neither one has been anything but Ecstatic.

Now, my baron/broker refuses to budge. He's missed 3 trading sessions in a row. He won't build any more road tiles over the drained Murky Pool squares. He won't even build the Glass Furnace required to satisfy his own "clear glass items" mandate. He goes directly between On Break -> Drink -> Eat -> repeat, I don't think he's been No Job for even an instant in the last 6 months. Same for his wife, by the way.

Mothers, tell your children. Don't let them do as I have done. Don't let them live their lives in peace and luxury, in the halls of booze and !!fun!!.

An imp went into booze stockpile in Crimsonbanners.

Casualties: 1 fire imp.

I honestly don't know how all the dwarves there managed to not get wounded and have a drink in the same time before I told them to get lost outta there. I call magic.

Just executed an enemy of Daggerbite by hammer... a dwarf traitor who had led at least one siege and was a general in the goblin armies. Feels good man... ;D

(During the execution he was bitten as well, true to form with our crazy bastard dwarfs)

A blind berserker cave bear managed to sneak into one of my mines killing 13 citizens before my militia could deal with him.
