Another spider thought it'd be a good idea to try and hit up the local watering hole. Same wrestler got interrupted. Decided to dispense tooth-based justice along side the savage beating.

This girl really does not like being interrupted while getting water.

Etur Alathalmosh, Armorer has created Ushrir Bubnus, a adamantine high boot.
It is studded with adamantine and encircled with bands of alpaca leather. This object menaces with spikes of goose leather and cave spider silk. On the item is an image of dwarves in eagle leather. On the item is an image of The Quakes of Scouring the adamantine high boot in raw adamantine.

Well that was a waste of a precious resource. But it's pretty valuable, at least.

At least it's usable. Better than chain leggings or a buckler or something.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

High boots are pretty useful. Better than getting an adamantine cloak or an adamantine warhammer.

I find it funny that both my elite marksdwarf and soon-to-be-elite marksdwarf are both Lengendary Crutch-walkers.
None of the other dwarves are at their level yet.

Also, my bookkeeper just got hammered for violation of a production order.
Time to organize a happy accident on the countess.

My Fortress is experiencing a booze shortage in combination with the food supplier (very descriptive job description!) going melancholy after a failed mood. The bastard that was in charge of making a cut gem for him decided to make a large gem without informing me. Some of the others are mad about losing family and/or military duty, the lack of a well/nasty water/booze shortage. For the first time in a long, long time, I feel like I'm in danger of losing a fort to failures on the home front...

had to move the stubgun/wrestler squad outside to discourage curious spiders. Seriously, necromundans have serious anger issues that I think only military service can cure.

My biggest seige yet.
11 goblin axemen.
6 trolls.
14 goblin swordsmen on Rutherers
About 10 lashers.

I'm going to have to thin out the numbers before I open them up to my cage traps.

I think I win.

My second-to-last 31.25 fort, which was pretty much trapless, fell to a siege of:

10 Crossbowgoblins, lead by an Elite Lasher.
10 Goblin Macemen, mounted on Voracious Cave Crawlers and Cave Crocodiles. Led by the general of the goblins.
10 Goblin Axemen, mounted on Voracious Cave Crawlers and Cave Crocodiles. Led by an Elite Macegoblin.
10 Goblin Swordsmen, mounted on VCCs and Cave Crocs. Led by a Goblin Swordsmaster.
10 Trolls, led by a titled troll.

Then two ambushes of 10 Crossbowgoblins and 10 Macegoblins followed.

Yup: Total invader count stood at about: 105 invaders.

The siege was finally broken after the last able defender- a miner called Domas Chaosstockades the Raw Blanket died defending the unconscious, critically injured mayor and an engraver who had been arrested for not making crystal glass.

Goblin bowmen overran one of my crossbowdwarves. :(
Rest in peace, Meng Zatmistem.

I didn't even see them! Think I counted 13 of them.

EDIT: The forgotten beast Genlath has come! A gigantic eyeless pterosaur. It has four long curving horns and it is slavering. Its pink scales are blocky and close-set. Beware its fire.
Firebreathing pterosaur.. sounds awesome.

How long does it usually take before the goblin siegers arrive mounted?  I'm on year 8 of my fortress (year 133 for that world), but no one has arrived on a mount yet.

A siege with 105 invaders... I think I need to build EVEN MORE weapon traps! Hee hee.

The siege was the third in the lifespan of the fort. It was 85 siegers total plus about 20 ambushers.

I got a fancy glass box and a fancy rockcrete figurine from a couple workers going funny in the head. Also narrowly averted a food crises with the timly arrival of extra grox with a migrant wave; Farms are taking forever to grow my damn blood fungi so I can make some auto/stubguns and ballistic armor, but I did manage to more or less et up my killing grounds (And a rather spacious barracks composed entirerly of rockcrete linked to three pillboxes overlooking the community well.)

The spiders also thought picking a fight with my guards was a good idea, and all it did was give someone some suturing training and a fresh carcass for us to eat. Oh and the squad leader probably had to clean the ichor and brains off her carbide stubgun stock.

"The Forgotten Beast Lithéme has come!  An enormous scaly scorpionfly.  It has two broad horns and it is slavering.  Its green-yellow scales are blocky and overlapping.  Beware its fire!"

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

Sure enough, this FB can fly.

And avoids traps.
