Just had two mega beasts show up at the same time. Caught me in the middle of my migrant wave, good thing my chief engineer had some bridge installation jobs queued up - oh, he was in the middle of a mood and hasn't done anything assigned to him. Never mind, my dwarves didn't like living that much anyways!

I drafted all my civies (there where some soldiers but after encounters with the undead my forces were few) into a few groups of militia and tried to bait the megabeasts into one another. One was a minotaur on the surface and one was a skinless something unpleasant in my caverns.

So I just set up my first danger room.

...within ten seconds my dwarf is already a skilled axedorf.

What.
The.
Hell.

EDIT: Annnnd legendary +5. I can now say that danger rooms are overpowered, holy crap.
Now I feel cheaty for rigging up a danger room, which I haven't done in most my recent fortresses. Oh well, rather insatiable murder machines than losing decent Dorfs to gallivanting goblins.

I see what u did thar  :P

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

I just got a mayor(he just demanded I make gauntlets), so I went to his prefs to see what he likes...and got this:

Heh, I guess I have a candidate to try out my execution chamber, huh?

Not sure, that pic is unreadable.

So an undead horde shows up on my front door when I only got 13 dwarves. I do what any sane unprepared man does. Raise the drawbridge and start preparing some snipers.

Then 25 migrants decide its a good time to show up. I figure this is as good as any time to lower the bridge and see who's going to survive.

Well the migrants spot 2 goblin ambushes and a kobold thief. To make matters worse a werechinchilla (yes another one) megabeast rocks up, as well as a dwarven caravan. Frankly I had to take a break since it was too much at the same time, but when I came back the results were surprising.

The kobold thief obviously ran off. The megabeast transformed back into a human and ran off. The goblin ambush slayed the undead horde, and the caravan escorts killed the goblin ambush leaders, and the gobbos ran off.

After all that, I lose 2 migrants with 0 effort. Win?

Lost: RabbitHut the Grass-Devourer
07) The Sponge has Spoken

Current: RabbitHut the Holy House
01) Start
02) Dwarf Down, Population Up
03) Light at the End of the Tunnel

So we breached the aquifer at RabbitHut.
Soon enough that we were able to get some stone mugs for the first Dwarven Caravan
Got some good bars and even some bronze gauntlets from 'em for some mugs/statues//wine/plump helmets.

During the time I get this message.

The theives are raiding Urist McChickenAxe's corpse. I got his Bronze Axe already so no worries.
Oh, wait, our Copper Wood-Cut axe is still outside. Better try to get that when the undead are fewer...

While carving out our garbage chute, one of my miners caused a small cave-in,
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I'm not sure how it happened.Oh well, he's just unconscious.
Order second miner to continue
...

Well, anyway, it gets finished and ready just in time,
because a rabbit corpse and Urist McChickenAxe corpse just got inside.

Hmm, while processing I noticed that Undead can be beneficial to the Tanning & Spinning industry.
You can get multiple uses if you decapitate the undead skin just right.

Just be sure to dispose of the annoying things that you don't have time for...

And so Spring arrives, and things look good.

So I've been getting a lot of 'could not find path' spam, and I passed them off as glitches/general dwarfism.

Then I decide to check one of them, and I find that SOMEHOW a dwarf managed to get across the river and is trying to get back.

Wat.

First strange mood in a new fort.

"Toolrough", a Bronze Shield.

Not bad at all...

It's a dwarf.  Their natural habitat is "trapped on the wrong side of a wall".

Flinging children halfway across the map to land in magma is good, wholesome fun, but extramarital reproduction?  Why, that's just unseemly!

Hmm, I just received a 'soap maker' migrant who has kills from decades previous to his birth and is a "Great Tactician".

Immediately the mayor, hammerer and sheriff turn up missing.

Not bad at all...

Next strange food, a fisherdwarf gets possessed *just* after the caravan leaves and demands materials I haven't got. Promptly gets walled up inside his workshop.

Then a Carpenter somehom manages to cause a cave in at the top of a tower, fall into the river and die...
