Zalisiden is still creeping back to normality. We were ambushed and sent out the only two capable of dealing with it: Zaneg Meetingcrypts the Blockaded Recluse of Justice and our other able bodied militia- Thob Amithzas. They ripped it to shreds, but in the process Zaneg got a bit of a poisonous FB's blood on her head and had to be hospitalised with Sluggishness and Mild Pain.

Zalisiden's defense falls to Thob, although he's legendary in using swords, he's got no legs and uses crutches to get around. Oh dear lord.

The Chief Medical Dwarf has now reached Legendary in Diagnostician. Nearly everyone who was affected by Nubpo Nightrumour's blood is up and about again, but with ruined feet too. So everything is going on painstakingly slow. I've ordered all of the bonehoard to be dumped- it takes up so much space. I left the shells and some bones, the rest is to be atomised.

A troll is fighting three dogs in the river.

edit: Troll is now dead. While fighting, all three dogs gave birth. There is a lot of blood.

Trying a fortress on a volcano and  my weapon smith went into the first fey mood of the fort right as I finished digging out the magma pool for my magma forge and magma smelters. (I mean right as. The miner cuts through the wall to the magma and the game pauses to tell me my weapon smith has been taken by a fey mood. It was pretty epic)
The first artifact of my first volcano fort is...
Ushilatir, "the Icy Dyes", a zinc mace of the highest quality. It is encircled with bands of zinc.
The naming choice is... humorously ironic.
But is zinc any good for a mace to be made from?

Zinc is heavier than iron and copper, both in RL and in the vanilla raws, so it should be more effective as a weapon, go ahead, give it to your soon-to-be Legendary macelord, but keep it away from your captain of the guard.

Aw hell naw... my enemies from the tigerman civ have war mountain wyverns. They just uncloaked in the mountains overhead.

Well, we're fucked... No way to engage them, and zero anti-air preparations. Fortress is pretty much open to the sky, both for the main courtyard and the volcano I haven't even started flooring over. I suppose the lesser dragon and GCS I have could slow them down for a short time... Probably best to PANIC and GET INSIDE. Then start walling off.

Heh, one of them is named Shook. I suppose I'm obligated to capture it and force it to do engraving duty :P

Oh dear god no! The tigermen bring their mountain wyverns as mounts, along with lesser and bestial dragons! I will never laugh at them for showing up naked and unarmed again...

Just as Coalvirgin is celebrating the completion of the magma pump stack, a delayed effect of some FB's poisonous vapors kicks in and kills two of my axedwarves with spinal cord damage. Time to find some substitutes...

Troll caravan has arrived. Fury siege has arrived. A squad of archers appeared pretty much right on top of the caravan. Two plus two equals free stuff.

EDIT: White Tigerman siege. Putrid Blendec siege. Dark Strangler siege. Frogman siege. One soldier dead, three or four more injured. Now I'm just waiting for the remains to rot away so I can commence the cleanup.

Damn... I was hoping you'd actually downloaded and tested my mod, especially now that trolls can be playable.
None of the 173 downloaders have bothered to give me any feedback. It's horrible...

Anyway, all hell has come to my fortress. Not in the form of hordes of dragons and tigermen sweeping through the gates and murdering everyone, but rather of the forgotten beast I, rather ironically, forgot about. Came upstairs and murdered a worthless nobody of a waxworker and scared my broker into jumping down the volcano, where he drowned... The beast is dead now. Some other less interesting things have happened. Like running out of booze without even noticing. And half my grazing livestock starving to death, including my prize giant moose cow.
There's also an ashen log and ashen bucket sitting out on the surface, on fire. When I turn temperatures back on I suspect horrible things from all the dwarfs walking over them over the past year.

There was a flying tigerwoman axeman hovering over the volcano though. She never came down to bother anybody other than laugh at the metalworkers, and I still don't quite understand how the fuck she did it, because tigermen cannot fly. I just got the message about an ambush, and she was the only one to show up, no other squad-mates. Just floating there, no mount or anything, though I suspect that was the case. Fucking dorfs apparently couldn't see the enormous mountain wyvern she was likely riding... But why wouldn't that mount or the rest of the squad show up when the ambush message was called? Should I file a bug report?

All my dorfs are fat! D:

YES!

i beat back a siege not by relying on my traps, but by stationing 6 strong fighters at the entrance and 10 marksdwarf on the tower

the enemy didnt have archers, so that may have helped, and just before the entrance is a bottleneck or two, so they came only 2 or 3 at a time, after being subjected to crossbow fire

negative side: they killed an elven caravan. Not only do they blame me, now i have all that crappy wooden stuff

All my dorfs are fat! D:

Fat's good, though. It absorbs attacks that might otherwise hit vitals.

I'm building a building at Bootrazors! Sort of a step-pyramid kind of thing. Ground level's going to be the entrance, rigged with drawbridges so that at the touch of a button pull of a lever it diverts attackers into a labyrinth full of *large serrated copper disc* x10 traps and gigantic/fat/muscular puppies to lure them to their splattery doom. Enemies that reach the final puppy will find cage traps and Bootrazors' danger-room-trained melee force waiting, as well as the archers stationed behind fortifications. Ground level will also contain a covered farm for surface plants.

if its only copper discs, expect a lot of visitors. I tried them on troll and ogre, and they mostly shook it off with barely any damage. Some bruised muscles i think. Add a spiked ball here and there

You're right. I should add some repeating silver spikes.

What, the only usable ore I have is tetrahedrite.

I'd make a dodge trap with spiked wooden balls.
