Giant badgers killed everyone except two dorfs in the lower levels, the other went insane and killed the sane one. It would have been epic ending if it hadn't happened in the first 5 mins.

Just used my first magma piston to bring a 10x12x13 chunk of magma up from the magma sea. Trying to decide if it is necessary or worth the extra effort to build an automated obsidian caster to restart the pump. For now I've got the magma I need for Melt/R on all of that goblinite that's been building up so I finally have a supply of iron to work with.

Seeing if the lava will abate or just how many original 7s I'll go through before that thanks to Coloredbridges being directly in a volcano's danger zone. So many collasping caverns in the process, but on the bright side I've two rivers full of obsidian and I see plenty of adamantine. Sadly this current group lost their picks so mining down is not going to happen currently. We'll see if the lava gets them or not. I'm guessing there's a slim chance of not.

What a fitting name. How this dwarf managed to keep this buckler together will remain a myth. I suspect spittle and bits of plump helmet he kept in his beard.

I got struck by a strange mood and revived my 31.18 fort aka !!Fort O' Attack Elephants!!  Looking over the ashy plains, I can see that the goblin hordes are still cooking nicely (not quite well-done, according to dfprobe), and the drink stockpiles are still fire-free.  Best of all, everyone's ecstatic from all the statues (aside from the few dorfs who are on fire).

I really love this fort.

My miners in Dikefaith are deconstructing walls even though they have an accessible mining designation area.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I can see soldiers getting overzealous in pursuit, I can't see soldiers getting overzealous in pursuit chasing a single lone enemy out of the gates of their fortress into the bulk of the enemy army.

The goblin peeking his head in to turn and flee out the gate with my guys in pursuit also defies everything I know of sieger AI.  He wasn't fleeing, that same goblin was later found fighting the fortress guard in the workshop district. And it didn't outpace it's squad leader and needed to run back to get back in ranks because it WAS the squad leader.

It's almost like the AI is...learning.  First decoy tactics....then trap avoidance, then suddenly, BAM!  Goblin Skynet making us all eat nothing but booze roasts and mushrooms.

I started building my latest fort, and struck gold!  My brewer went outside and was promptly relieved of his life by Goblin ambushers...

My stockpiles went far faster than I had imagined, and before I knew it half the fort had died of thirst (Also, all the water had evaporated.)

So I abandoned the fort and have reclaimed it.  Besides the four or so ghosts, it's going well.  I have the Fortress defense mod on, so I'm expecting a siege any minute!

Well, Welp.
I gave my milita commander a iron mail shirt, And guess what? She is about to throw a tantrum, She has no weapons, Though.
It came from her lover/only partner dying due to a horse.

I'm bored around my fort, so I have a pit chock full of puppies that I like to throw baddies in.

No puppy casualties yet.
So far they've slain:
1xGiant Rat
1xWolf
4xNaked Mole Dog
4xGoblin
1xGiant Earthworm
5xCrundle

Alright, I'll admit there are some pigs, a boar, and a cat in there too.

New Fort!

First strange mood! He's requesting "cloth...thread...". Apparently I don't have the specific type of cloth and/or thread he wants despite raiding two caravans for all their cloth and thread. Doesn't matter, he was an expendable leatherworker. Insane. Dead.

Next strange mood! "cloth...thread...". This one is a reasonably valuable metalsmith. FU. Melancholy. Dead.

Third strange mood! My legendary Armorer. Guess what happened. This loss hurt the fort.

I have plant thread and cloth. I have wool thread and cloth. I have silk thread and cloth. These greedy bastards all wanted candy thread/cloth.

Just dug a biggish round inverted cone -shaped hole in the ground, building a nanofort underground. No cotton candy though thanks to nanofort.

Zaneg Larmomuz Medtoborstist Imketh, Militia Commander of Zalisiden has been critically wounded. Her squad was sent to deal with two Blind Cave Ogres- because of her immense speed she got there first and attempted to fight alone. She knocked one unconscious when the other one bit her from behind, severing her entire left leg. She crawled away from the fight perhaps smartly, and was guarded by two junior recruits who moved up to Swordsdwarf and Axedwarf defending her.

She will likely never fight again (until she gets legendary crutch walker) so I'm going to promote another dwarf. Probably one of the captains... Zaneg will be off work until legendary.

Till then, wish her well.

In other news, Moldath, baby of a new migrant was seriously wounded by a naked mole dog today. The mole dog was swiftly put down, and Moldath appears to be remaining stable. He's still PALE but he should be ok- his open wounds have healed already.

A fish cleaner had a mood and made a lignite door. D:

^ For some reason miner is a skill that can generate a mood as well, which will result in stone furniture.  Weird, I know but it happens from time to time that a miner has a mood. Since mining levels up so fast, it isn't that helpful when a miner gets it though. Except for the artifact of course.

My fortress has been somewhat boring up until now. Got 3 adamantine veins, a normal mountain next to an evil grassland which sadly didn't get me any undead and it seems that I broke invaders. Though I might just have to play around with the init-file some more.

The only thing of note is the current construction of a stack of pumps that will bring magma into a chamber higher up i the mountain. It is undecided how it will exactly be used but I think I will just flood the space in front of the fortress.
