Platinum is the BEST material you can use AFAIK. Nothing else is as dense. If you'd got a warhammer, well, nasty.

Well, slade is about 9.348 times denser than platinum, but it's impossible to mine out.

So.... god-dwarf time? I got no steel armor, so I'm going to need to get some of that... I only had the platinum bars because I had 10K embark points so I took 30 of them!

EDIT: The maker has good stats, maybe her... too bad she has friends and a lover. :(

Just got an artifact gold ring. Tossed it into the volcano along with a goblin to replicate LOTR.

Its funny because artifacts dont melt :v

A yeti burst into my arctic fort and punched the brains out of two of my starting seven dwarves. I lost the brewer and the glassmaker. The yeti retreated outside the front door, where it is currently lurking. I locked the door, I hope he goes away before migrants arrive.

EDIT:
andesite Door destroyed by Nabrethitur, Yeti.
oh crap...

EDITEDIT: am ok now, scared it out and walled off the entrance. It destroyed the butcher shop and wagon outside.

Drained the Upper Cistern (this sucker's BIG) out onto the mountainbase.  Going to A: properly weaponize it (had to send suicide dwarves to dig it out.  They got trapped due to a sudden winter). and B.  Collossal Water Reactor.  Because !!SCIENCE!! demands it of such a large carved-out cistern.

KOBOLDS ARE AMONG US
With the assistance of some dogs, we managed to kill a thief.
Then we ate him.

I avoided fulfilling a GCS silk mandate by having a new mayor elected before it ended.

The new mayor likes tin and has only banned tin exports so far. I like this feller.

We have a deity by the name of Sarvesh Canyongorges, a deity of Mountains and Volcanoes.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
He keeps cropping up a lot on our crafts. :/

See if you can guess what creature that is (And that on his head is like a crownyvolcano thing. 1000 hours in MSPAINT).

Besides that, Zalisiden has found its third recruit, who is now training with a maple sword. A cat was fatally injured detecting a Kobold thief who I can no longer summon the speed to kill, and the cat was promptly made into noms for all.

Yetis are surprisingly easy to kill if you mob them, but they're deadly one on one.

P.S. Just had an idea! What if there was this big table that told you how to deal with different creatures? Like badger/giant badger/badgermen attack, or GCS, or trogs. That would really help out the newbies.

I'm crying in my office, staring at my statue of so-and-so the troll, wondering why I forgot to embark somewhere with flux stone.

Because it'd have to be written by the newbies or every answer in the table will be magma.

Just had a possession; my gem-setter just decided the best thing he could do was carve a rough prase into an earring and attach a block of granite to it.

All I can think is that'd freaking hurt to wear.

What's wrong with using magma? That's almost always the easiest method.
I have issues channeling it properly to do that method. I end up flooding the fortress with magma.

I'd answer "zerglings" to everything that I don't answer with magma.
