Watch as said woodcutter/miner drops their weapon and fights it barehanded, winning anyway.

A blob comprised of steam, with a shell... weird.

Maybe the steam is inside the shell, and breaking it will release the steam in a horrible jet of face-melting water vapour.

Or maybe the random FB generator is stoopid.

Anyway...on my first fort, I've just breached the caverns. Still a bit stupefyed, trying to get ALL THE GEMS AND THE SILVER AND THE GOLD. Building floors between tiny islands hovering over an underground lake. I've seen a cave crocodile, one of my hunters killed a giant olm, and there's a giant toad in my stairwell.

So yeah, either my military is going to kill it (at least one of them will die, probably) or my fortress is about to be turned into an abbatoir.

What I wonder is how he got past all the dwarves going down to make floors and mine out tunnels and collect silk and gems and all that without raising an alert.

My crippled moody dwarf just started his artifact in a craftdwarf workshop. Hes got a bunch of blocks, a bunch of wood, a jewel and a piece of cloth. Any guesses?

In other news, i've begun to replace all of my random stone walls with gold  :) Keyesteemed is going to be the shiniest fort ever!

I don't have a dungeonmaster, and it was in the stairwell, so cage traps weren't an option.

It was dispatched with ludicrous ease, by the way. Just -one- of my swordsdorfs managed to kill it. The swordsdorf didn't even get hit. The only injuries were those suffered by Toady himself and a few bruises for a Tresher that had the ill fortune to run into it.

1st winter: Caravan came, bought booze and some leather. Currently a peasant is training up from nothing into a swordsdwarf, and he seems to be enjoying the training and the rise from uselessness. Miners became legendary, and currently dug out 3 clusters of emeralds and five seams of gold, the dwarf in charge of smelting hasn't taken a break since summer. Noble bedroom is almost complete, need to put magma into the central heating tubes.

In my caverns too...come on.[/img]
Strange that it made me think of this.

Plus, how does a blob appear gaunt?

While trying to figure out how to get rid of another dust forgotten beast (it's organic so it won't die as fast as the last one), I found a cave dragon while looking through the units list. I think I'll make a cage trap and let it lose above ground when the next goblin siege comes.

Cave dragons are complete arse in comparison to normal dragons. They can't breath fire and you can't make them into war animals.

Looks like the beast just left randomly...
Or could he have just moved around to parts of the cavern I haven't seen and he'll be back?
