Tano waits to see if everyone else manages to disable it. If not, he charges with the spear.

BATTLE IS JOINED

~~Combat 101: A Simple Primer~~

Combat in this system is, for the most part, diceless, unless a particular skill calls for a random effect or possesses a failure chance.

In this prologue, your stats will be boosted, and the SKILL system will not be in effect, meaning that you will be able to experiment with a wide variety of abilities and get used to the system as a whole. I'll use the first few attacks to demonstrate how this system works.

To start with, look here:
~~~~~~
Spoiler: Combatants//PCs (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Combatants//Enemies (click to show/hide)
~~~~~~

As you can see, your statistics, as well as those of your enemy, are displayed during a battle. Check this often, as it will also alert you to if someone is charging an attack, affected by poison or some other status ailment, or otherwise in an abnormal position.

During a battle, the order in which each character acts is determined by their Skill score, with the highest Skill acting first, as you can see below.

~~~~~~
Tane holds his action!
-----
Garnassiath attacks the Titan with a **Legendary Chakram** for [50+100] 150 Damage!
Titan's HP is now 1850/2000
Garnassiath's Limit is now 25/100
~~~~~~

Here we see our first attack. Notice that it deals damage based on the character's Physique score, but why that additional 100? This is called a Weapon Bonus. When wielding a weapon, your attack is increased by a set amount based on that weapon's quality. As you can see here, Garnassiath's weapon has a Weapon Bonus of 100 points.

~~~~~~
Alexandria uses Trip on the Titan!
The titan is Unbalanced and takes [(50+100)\2] 75 Damage!
The Titan's HP is 1775/2000
Alexandria's Limit is now 40/100
~~~~~~

Here we see two new effects, due to Alexandria using a special attack, in this case Trip.

The first is Status Effects, in this case Unbalanced, which reduces the target's next attack's damage by half.

The second is a Damage Multiplier, applied by the special attack, which reduced her OWN damage by half as well.

~~~~~~
Kyle prepares a Power!
~~~~~~

Kyle's activated some sort of Power, but as its effects are not immediately visible, we don't see its affects here.

~~~~~~
Layette uses Leap Attack!
The titan takes [(80+100)*2] 360 Damage!
The Titan is no longer Unbalanced!
The Titan is now Prone!
The Titan's HP is now 1450/2000
Layette's Limit is now 40/100
~~~~~~

My, that is a lot, isn't it?

First, this time we see a positive Damage Multiplier. Generally these are caused by powerful attacks, or the final hit of an attack which spans multiple rounds, usually composed of several attacks. For example, if three Basic Attacks are chained in sequence, the attacks will generate a final hit that does bonus damage based on the type of weapon used.

Additionally, we see an interaction between attacks. In this case, the Titan, already staggered by Alexandria's Trip attack, was knocked down by the heavy impact from Layette's blow.

~~~~~~
Talvine fires his **Legendary Crossbow** at the Titan, dealing [100] 100 damage!
The Titan's HP is now 1350/2000
Talvine's Limit is now 60/100
~~~~~~

Wait, what's that? That attack didn't get an Attribute Bonus? Simply put, ranged attacks, like those from Talvine's Crossbow, do not deal bonus damage based on an attribute with their standard attacks, only Special and Limit skills.

~~~~~~
Uthoth uses Disarm!
The Titan takes [70+100/2] 135 Damage!
The Titan Has its attack broken!
The Titan's HP is now 1215/2000
Uthoth's Limit is now 50/100
Tolan uses Hamstring!
The Titan takes [(50+100)/2] 75 Damage!
The Titan is Slowed.
The Titan's HP is now 1140/2000
Tolan's Limit is now 75/100
-----
Tane attacks the titan with his **Legendary Spear**, dealing [50+100] 150 Damage!
The Titan's HP is now 990/2000
Tane's Limit is now 25/100
-----
The Titan Stands up.
The Titan is no longer Prone.
-----
Kyle's Counter fizzles.
~~~~~~

And there ends our first round of combat. Next, we have the field zones:

~~~~~~
Melee: Tolan, Layette, Alexandria, Garnassiath, Tane; Titan
Ranged: Kyle, Talvine
~~~~~~

These zones are simple enough. Both attacker and target must be in Melee range with each other to use melee attacks, meaning they must be in the same zone. For this combat, since there is only one enemy, the zones merely consist of a Melee and a ranged zone.

Reminder to anyone that hasn't posted:

Turnpost is tomorrow. Also, I'll be considering changing this to a scheduled game on R20 for combat so that we can get it done in an hour or so instead of... this.
