A piercing ring sounds in Ether's head, followed by a message:

"You may want to be careful, Ether. That was most definitely not the way you banish spirits and I think I want to kill you. I might be able to hold out until Self-Control, but that's all I'm really sure of. He's giving me a hell of a headache."

In species studies, Fred is noticeably very incorporeal. He seems to be concentrating on something other than the lesson.
