Larissa is eating the school-food equivalent of a full English breakfast. More accurately, two full English breakfasts. She's eating with a knife, at least, but her etiquette has dropped back to a very low level of acceptability.
Cynthia is eating a ham and mustard sandwich. More accurately, a mustard and ham sandwich, or so it became once she found the sachets of mustard.

She herself is eating a sandwich which looks packed with cheese, ham and tomato slices.

Cynthia takes a bite, and waits for a while as her eyes, mouth and nose feel like they're on fire. After a few seconds she does so again.
Larissa may be doing better, but one would be hard-pressed to compliment her on her finesse. She's using the knife to hold things down while she tears bits off with the fork, for goodness' sake.
