The room seems to stretch on for longer than it could possibly go without hitting a hallway. The creature from before still seems to be there, but you can't see it. You can only tell it's there by the otherwise inexplicable gap in the slime.

The creature seems to wake up, judging by the ripples in the liquid. It makes an inhuman screech at you, and seems to attempt to climb the ladder, but fails.
