((Please note that the language my species employs is still rather primitive, as it has had no need to go any further than it currently is.))

"You leave. I enter ship. I need enter ship. Ship important. No ship for you. Ship Resteroth's. Not your. You leave."

Create a "Bubble" where no pressure exists, directly in front of the airlock door, separating the airlock between the vacuum of space and the inside of the shape. Then, simply demolish the airlock. Any decompression SHOULD in theory be minimal, right?.... Right? Once inside the ship, use mana to scan for life.

You're basically saying "Create a barrier of vacuum to keep the pressure in," correct? If not, you'll need to explain it better. ;)

Also remember that an airlock has two doors. One on the outside and one on the inside. Destroying the outer one will not cause decompression because the airlock is empty and there is another door. If you don't close the outer door before opening the inner one, then you will cause decompression.

As soon as you stopped thinking about it the barrier would disappear. To stop this, you'd have to toggle it on, reducing your affinity for Redirection by 1. This is a redirection spell because you're not actually building anything stable, you're just be actively keeping the air from leaking.

You might want to modify the airlock door instead, transforming a handle on it or something.

Eh sure.

Changing action to:
Modify airlock door to have a handle on it, which when turned, will force the door open.

Stand back and watch what happens with the wizard that refuses to speak to me. Failing them doing anything interesting, learn what I can about my surroundings.

set max storage to n + 1 where n = the amount of energy currently in the node.
"I agree, however the output point for the node is not currently available, and I use them for more than just energy collection and storage. If you are comfortable with me setting up a more extensive collection system within your area of influence, then I would be interested."

I then take a quick deep breath, and switch from my rigid form of speech to a more comfortable and natural pattern.

"Sorry about earlier by the way, I figured you were trying to intimidate me and responded appropriately for a predator. If you're actually a decent person and willing to act nice and reasonably, then I'll do the same with you. I am actually trying to set up a energy collection network amongst other things, and that's part of what I'm looking around here for - a sustainable mana source I could work with. What suggestions do you have?"

set max storage to n + 1 where n = the amount of energy currently in the node.

If you want to set a non-constant value you will have to trigger the change every turn that it changes.

You also can't change it between turns because... well... I don't like doing integrals.

Speaker: Hmm, well, you see, the space around you is anything but flat. Over the past... I think three cycles of Neptune... I've set up an interconnected network of rifts and tunnels forming a pocket dimension within this system. Most would stop there, but I've taken to creating rifts inside that dimension, infinite loops, recursive traps, etcetera. It's my own little world, and I use it to store things. Lots of things. Including energy.

I don't need to set up nodes to collect energy like you do. I only need to put a stable wormhole in front of the star and connect the mouth to the inside of my 3-sphere trap. The photons simply loop back around and reach an equilibrium state based on the size of the trap. Of course, the trap took a lot of time and mana to create. I don't expect you to build anything near the same magnitude or complexity. But I figured if I taught you how to solve the Wormhole Equation that the scientific community oh-so desired, but I never gave to them, then you might be able to link that cape of yours to your nodes whenever you place one. I could modify it so it has two openings, one for its current use, and one that leads to a micro 3-sphere trap like the one I just described. It's the least I could do for someone who shares at least a minor interest in dimensional shenanigans.

But you'll owe me a favor afterwards, of course. Equivalent exchange and all that.

I'm just saying it should reinforce itself as necessary to maintain its current energy level and continue to collect - and there is no reason to keep unused capacity lying around beyond a small amount to serve as a buffer in case of a power surge. I have no reason to be micromanaging that. As it holds more energy, it collects it slower - sure, no problem. done. why are you even bothering me with this?

turn error:  I should have a second node here in order to make the observations listed in the turn (color), and although I failed to mention it in the action I did intend to do such a thing.

The nodes can only store energy based on their configuration. As you spread them thinner, they can collect more energy (due to higher surface area) but they can't store it as efficiently.
The intent behind the configuration system was that you'd have to decide beforehand whether you want a node to store lots of power or collect lots of energy. In hindsight it was a bad idea in the first place since you can modify the nodes remotely and forgo the important decision altogether. Just forget the mechanic.

"What favor did you have in mind?"

Speaker: Hmm... I want you to go to Mars and destroy Olympus Mons. Turn it to rubble. Is that within your capabilities?

Speaker: I've left some... unfinished business during my time at Sol. Technology that I would rather not give to our civilization. I originally planned to leave the gift of safe interplanetary travel to the masses when I left, but since then I've learned to become more cynical. I was born before civilization invented the nuclear bomb, you see.
There is a lab buried in the mountain. I need all traces of it annihilated so that the archaeologists do not discover it.

I would destroy it myself, but my garden needs tending. It will need constant overwatch until the Terran year 3328, at which point I will be able to leave this system.

Speaker: I figured if you are looking to harvest energy from stars you could destroy it from orbit. I need the lab buried somehow and all the tunnels collapsed. Nothing short of a disaster would do.
