((DbZ, I think you're probably now getting an understanding of why I said Nino has issues with collateral damage, despite where her skills are located. It's one of those things that was just easier to show than explain.))
"Neat. How'd you pull that off?"

((Hmm, how so? The possibility that there could be life in all sorts of places due to the setting?))

Mira: Hmm...? Oh, that was easy, I just moved the lines around, you know? They're like light, but a part of it rather than the whole thing.
Marie: What lines, are you talking about light rays? Focusing the star's output into a small section of the surface?
Mira: Nooo, it's like... the part of light that works in magnets? Light is that plus another. I'm just moving around part of it.
Marie: Oh, so you're manipulating the star's magnetic field.
Mira: Yeah, that's what scientists call it!
Marie: Hmm, I see, so you used a variation on star lifting to expose the star's core--

Marie just stops, prompting the newcomer to wave her hand in front of Marie's face to get a response.

Marie: Stop that! I just can't believe you. The amount of mana required to do that would be astronomical, you could only do it if you had a planet's worth of mana, if not more than that...
Mira: Well I just talked to this nice big planet and it taught me how to do it. I didn't learn it on my own.
Marie: That explanation isn't doing much to help me believe you.
Mira: Okay, well, I can go hide again if you don't believe me. You don't have to believe me.

"What if we use the antimatter to harvest excess mana, which is essentially everywhere?"

Old Man: Mana? Is that what you used to fly like that? I'm afraid I don't know how to harvest that, so if that's possible then you'll have to do it.

"Help required? Resteroth provide assistance."

Third One: Good! Ship overrun. Bad [machines, automatons]. Sealed off in [engineering section]. We stuck here. Are you powerful?

Roll 10
Spoiler: Starmap (click to show/hide)

((Note that italicized words in your character sheets can be hovered over for additional info))

Alexandreus (Yourmaster)

Mini-neptunes have softer atmospheres, not quite as crushing or violent as those of true giants like the human's beloved Neptune, and the other planet with the unfortunate name.
What this means is that mana usually still exists in trace quantities. it's basically everywhere in the atmosphere, but to purify it you will need a large fan array to sift through millions of tons of gas. It's the same principle as collecting a gas like Helium-3 from an atmosphere, although it's actually easier because mana molecules are easier to detect. It's just simple organics rather than a slightly-lighter isotope of helium.

The old man presents you with a device that he cannibalized a while back to turn into prospecting balloons. There is little surface area left, but he suggests that the balloons are still out there and can be reclaimed to recover the parts. After recovering the five balloons, you will have a sifting fan that can be used to separate mana from atmospheric gas.
[5] You perform an alteration on the existing piece you still have and turn it into a device that, when tested, turns up a couple of mana molecules successfully. It only took minor modifications (for someone as yourself, at least), so you will be able to do it as soon as you recover the balloons.

The five balloons can be detected in the following locations:
1 Balloon is apparently next to a security drone. Due to damage to the drone's target-recognition system, it will open fire on anything that isn't like itself.
1 Balloon was impaled on a UAV that's on a permanent loop around the planet's equator, [5] although you are just so lucky that it's making a close pass right now. The UAV travels fast and is designed to avoid obstacles--including flying people.
2 Balloons are tangled together along with a radio transmitter balloon. The transmitter no longer works as its casing fractured.
1 Balloon is caught inside a permanent atmospheric vortex that sucks things deeper into the clouds. Should you approach it, it will drag you into the depths and threaten your survival.

Michel (Pancaek)

inspect the glass capsule. Look for any sort of records and/or interface

[2] Records? No. There is no text other than labels for the ports which are probably used to attach pumps and cables.
[3] Interface? There are electrical cable sockets lining it, but there is no console or anything like that. Probably because a console would not last long in space.

The figure inside holds still, unawakened as of yet.

Nino (Lenglon)

"I don't use light to see."

Mira: Light is a kind of wave in space. It's one of the only things that can go through space. If you don't use light to see, you have to use some kind of wave, right?
Marie: Forgive me, Nina, but I cannot he held from laughing here.

Marie appears to laugh maniacally, but in total silence. She must have separated the air pocket connecting you two with her powers.

Marie: Now, as I was going to say, that's hogwash. The only thing given off by most objects that can still travel through the vacuum of space is--you guessed it--light. You probably just see in a different wavelength, that's all.
Mira: I was going to say... that even if she didnt use light to see... I'd still keep it from reaching her eyes. Whatever she uses to see.

"Power is hard to assess, as it depends on how powerful both creatures are in relativity to each other. To my species, I am incredibly powerful. However, to a species where everyone is more powerful than I, I would be considered weak. However, considering I just halted the advance of you all, I feel I am relatively powerful. I need information. Where is the engineering section. What enemies await me there. What is this ship? Who are your makers? Where did you come from? And many more questions like that."

[3] 3rd One: Hmm... I will tell you some.

The ship was named in its former language as Why Do We Care. It was sent by a race of hollow-boned humanoids with large bat-like wings folded into their arms, although in astronauts they are surgically removed to avoid complications with spacesuit ergonomics. They are a heavily centralized state that sends out criminals on death row as astronauts, rather than trained scientists (or at least they used to do this--this ship has been stranded for about 30 years, but the voyage lost 600 years--their homeworld is located in the Pelaides)
This ship was sent to explore the Sirius system and make observations of neighboring stars. The ship's computer has taken all this data, but due to an antimatter explosion in the engine bloc, there was not enough power to transmit the data home. As such, the maintenance robots were dispatched to "solve" the problem. Due to their programming, they refused to allow any of the ship's crew to intervene. The crew had been planning an easy solution--store power using a large capacitor and use that to send short bursts of high-intensity signals. But the robots were not as bright, and so the ship was locked into waiting for the robots to fix the problem. Of course, the robots had no solution, and would never fix the problem. Hence, the ship was screwed.

Sirius was chosen as the destination because it was a star most like the homeworld--an aging subgiant with a binary white dwarf companion. The aliens were shocked to discover it had absolutely no planets to speak of.

Michel (Pancaek)

Michel taps on the glass. "Hello? Bonjour? Are you awake, mon ami?"

[3] The man inside the tube does not react, although the jostling does release bubbles in the tube near the bottom parts. They do not move from their locations, because there happens to be no gravity in orbit.

The bubbles get larger over time. Some reaction must be taking place, or at least there might be pumps working inside.

"how?"

Mira: Well, you were just talking about bending space and making straight lines go different places, so...
Marie raises her brow.
Marie: Unlikely, I would have noticed abnormalities in the arrangement of my tunnel network if you created tunnels of your own.
Mira: Tunnels? Like a telescope?
Marie: You mean to say you don't use rift tunnels to bend light?
Mira: Not to stay invisible, no.
Marie: Then... then... you must have mastered the art of bending flat space! You must teach me your ways!

Marie leaps at the newcomer with arms outstretched in some sort of hug-like movement, although it really seems that she has had no social interaction in at least a hundred years.

Resteroth (Coolrune206)

Ask for directions towards the maintenance area, then go there.

((Urist doesn't seem to be with us anymore, so I shall replace him with a currently friendly NPC AI.]))

The maintenance area has been barricaded by machine parts and articles of furniture, although as you pass by you notice that most tables and appliances are welded, not bolted, to the floor on this ship.
Tafaw floats behind you in zero-G, staring at pieces of discarded food and bloodstains and other signs of decay on this old vessel, although for the most part it seems rather well-kept for a vessel that has travelled for over a hundred years. Perhaps it's due to the androids that supposedly ran the ship before they were barricaded into the engine bloc.

Geiger counters on the walls tick at alarming rates, which indicates there has been a leak of nuclear fuel. Whether this happened in the explosion described earlier, or during the reign of the automatons, you do not know.
You find a claw on the ground, which resembles five non-jointed blades attached to a center mount and a long handle.

Your Inventory:
Masks (A set of masks used to express yourself. You can modify sound waves and visual stimulus coming through.)
Lesser Mana Potion (x27) (Consume to negate 1 point of negative affinity in a stat for one turn)

I pull my daggers and place them hilt-to-hilt to extend my blade into its staff form, and swing it to block Marie's path to Mira - which also shifts it into its scythe form, with the blade behind her head. I do not continue the motion however, simply stopping her in place and not actually causing her harm.
No.
after I've gotten her full attention, and interrupting her likely rant on my rudeness.
"You need to control yourself. You've already given away more than you intended, there is no need to make things any worse. Tell me. When did I tell you my name?"
I pause for a moment, then lean towards her, blade still near her neck and my arms still on the handle, and slowly form an overly-large, toothy smile.
"Mind telling me what's really going on?"

[1] ((Your weapon-threatening miniroll))

Marie: Interesting. I should have known better than to speak like that without running some iterations beforehand.
Marie hovers closer through your weapon. Its shaft is directly intersecting her neck, but you feel no friction as she approaches you. The weapon feels like it's caught inside a frictionless bearing.
Mira watches from a distance, having backed away. It's hard to tell if she's impressed or curious about the matter because her eyes have had this sullen, indifferent look to them the entire time.

Marie: Nina Dear... it takes but a single encounter for me to map out a subject's entire response pattern up to an Earth-week of divarication. I have countless rift openings lined across this system's borders. In just a few minutes, the light from our first encounter entered those openings and subsequently my network tunnels, which I extended and looped at will to playback the episode as many times as necessary. Of course, I could not have done this without a couple of hours, but since you were so kind as to give me the time I needed while travelling between planets...

Mira still looks indifferent.

Marie: ...I knew your exact responses to everything I would have said. That includes asking you if your name is so and so. According to my network's computations, Nina would have incited a body-temperature-increase of approximately 0.2 degrees Centigrade above the null hypothesis prediction. You never told me your name, I simply deduced it from a generous sample of state-response data. Does this satisfy your question?
