If a Kitsune's soul gets shredded, the character is effectively dead. Not that that should be happening in the first place due to the whole erased from existence thing for killing people.

Here is my concluding statement on the matter: Destroying a soul is rather difficult. Too difficult perhaps. Relying on time to cause death is ineffective as it only works if the entity involved will automatically destroy itself. That is not a guarantee. Furthermore, as the matter at hand indicates a form of immortality capable of allowing survival between "transitions" is possible, then the question is, where is everything else? Where is every other such entity capable of such? Why are they not here?

Two solutions:

One, Space Hitler or equivelant stops them outright.

Two, reality has an end goal - and they found it.

Odds are is some of those entities did transition. Or at a minimum try to transition. Lets say... 1% of transfers actually make it through. The rest failing to escape. That's a pretty small number compared to the newborn deities and entities in new universes. They only get one shot to escape afterall. Same issue as with Kitsune transitioners. They might not make it even if they try. One moment too early or too late. Or maybe the wrong method is tried.

Then wouldn't that 1% have a free pass the next loop around? Then 2% get through. Then 3%. It'd get to a point where a new transition would mean nothing.

I would think that due to new universes likely having deviations, the escape method from one wouldn't always work for the new one.

Unless the population is ridiculously low, 1% can still result in a sizable population that can reproduce. Before any other forms of life even appear. Which means that the final population of the 2nd iteration at the time of transition will be significantly higher than that of the first iteration.

I think at this impasse, it's something for the GM to decide on.

But the 1% has more than enough time to work it out. Hell, they could work out how to stop it entirely during that period.
