Sorry. But the Principal has to be ridiculously powerful in order to be able to stop the more powerful students/teachers if they go insane or are mind controlled or something.

If he went crazy though... then the world is screwed.

Well, perhaps he could be, say, not omniscient. That is to say, he can only have an eye on one or two things at a time, and the students will never be sure if it's on them or not.

Granted, there's enough drama with Jana, Larissa, Darren and Trude's baggage.

Yeah, sufficiently powerful beings are hard to erase. Pandora at full power couldn't be erased. He'd still curb-stomp her, but he couldn't flat out erase her.
