Obviously Tessa is part of a Harmonizer bloodline.

The reason illusions don't work on her is the same reason they don't work on Torimus, the Malice in her blood combined with her innately large amount of Willpower counteracts them.

She was sent to the school so that when she starts developing Fusion during puberty there will be both people around to help her learn and sufficient elemental energy to develop it further.
