Ok, I just looked up tilde, and now I get what you mean, there are a lot of them.
But the tilde has it's uses. I have slight experience with Japanese, and there it indicates an extended vowel sound.
I don't get when it's used after a consonant though.

I am guilty of trying to make things cute, but I like better to make it seem cute, rather than just saying it.
Basically, I favor "Acta non verba". Though in a text based RP, that gets complicated.
