I'm all for a move to any forum that doesn't delete my PMs after I respond to them, and allows me to see new messages since my last visit.  I agree with the ASCII-only folks, I HATE forums with signature images and user-uploaded avatars.  The only avatars I'd be happy with would be a selection of colors of the in-game dwarf icon.

I like the idea of ASCII avatars. So typing :fisherdwarf: gives us a little blue smiley Dwarf face. The smilies we have now are fine, but they're all we need. None of this ten-million smiley spam that forums think are 'kewl'.

I don't mind avatars.  The rest of that mess (picture sigs, post counts, etc.) can go choke on lemons and die.  I hate that stuff.

What about something simple added to it, like awards that can be earned and are added below your name?
Simple things like "started a topic" "donated" "over one month old" each replaced with a small image. I think that "here before the forum change" would not be a great idea...

You can always need to write badly as a form of humour. What if we could not even imitate a dwarf's pronunciation ? I don't think that is such a big issue here that we need such a drastic measure.
