Oh man, this game, this game. I just got in a shooting match with a Panzer V. Close range, it was exposed but front-facing. I manage to hit it like 8 times with AP rounds to absolutely no effect, only to have it's single shot in response completely wreck my dinky little Sherman. :D

Next time, why not do a frontal attack of the Tigerkampfwagen VI ;)

Anyone else get the sense that the game's modifiers are turned upside down? It seems that the more I ask my crew to do, the easier it makes it for them to hit the target? I sent the guy developing this the following email:

Quote
Hey!

Just toying around with Armoured Commander, but it seems to me like all the modifiers are inverted!

The roll hits on a less-than number. Thus, for example:

if not tank.has_rof:
   diff = GetSectorDistance(tank.turret_facing, tank.old_t_facing)
   if diff != 0:
      # apply penalty, +1 per sector
      drm.append(('Turret has been rotated', diff))

What this is doing is making it EASIER to hit the enemy if you turn the turret! Should be a -1 penalty, making it harder to roll under! So, a small target moving in the woods is easier to hit than a large target, immobile, in the open?

Patton's Best rules seem to agree with you, but I don't understand the logic!

Right now I don't see the point of playing, since nothing makes sense!

Although dayum, roguelikes.

I think you're probably just confused about the way the values are presented.

Herp, I think you're right. It's added to the die roll, not the modifier.

Is it? The roll they show you in the game is unmodified.

Yeah, it's a weird system. The way I understand it is it shows you the to-hit number, the unmodified roll, and the modifier as in, what you add to the roll, not the to-hit number, and finally, how much you need to roll (or less) so that the modified roll hits.

Man, I just spent 4 hours reading and searching about tanks because of this game. Found the craziest designs, its so cool. I love when that happens.

Holleeshit, so much has changed since last time I updated...

For one thing, the campaign has more than one mission type. Also, sounds, more animations, and metals.

Whenever I suffer a tank bailout or a tank destruction the game crashes with errors. This is from his latest beta version, 3.0. If you're interested in this game just expect a crash if you hit an ending that doesn't have the day naturally end on you.

The what now? I thought the latest version was 2.0.6? It doesn't crash, BTW. (Don't use nightlies. In general. Unless, of course, they added that one feature you desperately needed)

I have barely any understanding how this game works but I'm still waiting to see if there will be German campaign in future.
