I guess the question is, which side would everyone have went with? I've thought about it for the last few days and I've eventually decided Taft would have picked Alaria's. For one thing,Taft abso-fucking-lutely hates nobles and this plot would have been concocted by them so that's a strike against it, and elements of his backstory would have swayed him to join her.
