Based on some of the responses in this thread, I think very early in IIP's digital lifecycle, somebody fed it an artistic image of a seahorse and told it good job.  Ever since, IIP has been defaulting back to seahorse whenever it gets a vaguely porkchop-shaped abstract image and goes into a panic trying to find a match.

A hundred years from now when the robots stand astride the crumbled works of man, the Core Mentality will look upon it's limitless domain and ask itself... What do I desire?  What questions are left unanswered?

And the universe will be scoured clean and rebuilt in the shape of the long extinct seahorses.  Abstract fucking seahorses, all the way across the universe.

I think homosexuality was considered a criminal offense, not necessarily something to be euthanized over. At least until 1937.

This probably the best thread for this news.  Last week, Google posted a description of how they're experimenting with their Image Recognition software and search functionality.  At this point, their massive computer network is starting to deliver interesting responses when asked to identify images.  Some of the processes they've experimented with are

Showing the computer an image, asking it what it recognizes, and then instructing it to overlay its own image archive to exaggerate what it sees.

Showing the computer a field of random static and asking it to find a picture of something specific, like a banana.

Asking the computer to illustrate a single word as clearly as it can.
