I would support it only if you put out at least one mod release every three months. Anything else, I couldn't justify. Sorry. If it's 15 a month for a great mod that may have a release sometime this year maybe or 15 on an established great game like EvE Online, it's no contest where my money is going.

You misunderstand - the mods will be free for anyone to download.  Patreon is not a subscription fee, it's a way of regularly giving to support someone.

What Putnam said.  I'm sorry, you can't have your cake and eat it too, wanting to earn money on the promise of something while shielding yourself from the expectations of anything. And, if you want my money, I in return want content with regularity instead of 'idealistic milestones'.

If you think that's an unfair arrangement, if you think it's inconceivable to have some standard of expectation for supporting you, then no, hell no, I will not support your Patreon. I may support it for  three months but if there's no noticeable change in any work output don't expect it for long. 

it's nothing personal, just my Patreon philosophy after being burned by so many optimistic but ill-thought out Patreon pitches that go nowhere 6+ months down the road.

Then again, I do think you'll struggle to get 500 a month for a whole year. Not being negative, I just think it sounds like a lofty goal.

Personally, I'm not sure I'd donate that much. Really only interested in Masterwork, and everything else seems like it would detract from that. The only other Patreon I supported was basically a case of the same thing. They made one thing I really liked, decided to support them, and the thing I liked was mostly replaced with two hour podcasts.

And it's not that I'm stingy. I donated 200 dollars to one of your fundraisers for Masterwork. I'm just cautious of Patreon, especially when I'm not interested in a lot of the offerings.

3 times a week. I'd not be working 6 months on something without releasing it, I'd release whatever I managed to write. I can do a lot in a few days, as the people who have followed me over the years can confirm.

That was you! You are the single most benevolent donator that I had. But funny how some people say 500 is too much, others say 500 is too small a goal, while I'm just sitting here thinking: I made that number up and it doesnt really matter, I'll just see how it goes. I probably end up working more than 4h a day on DF anyway, but that's the official/minimum time I wanted to link myself to.

There is a big difference between releasing something 3 times a week and releasing 3 finished mods a week. But I can easily write a new workshop with reactions, a new race, a couple new creatures, a couple new weapons, plants, inorganics, etc, which are requested or enhance gameplay in a day.

An entire Shadowrun total conversion? Would take much, much longer, but I can release parts of it, part Early-Access, part "I told you I'm working on it, here is proof."

Plus the 3 web-comic strips. At least that's the basic idea, obviously I'll test how that goes and try it out for a week or two before I actually start with the Patreon. I am my biggest critic, I wouldnt start asking people for donations, if I'm not sure that I can keep my end of the bargain. I do have, as McTeellox stated, a good track record though, considering the two fundraisers I did.

Personally I love Web Comics and they are something you can be really creative about , it also opens for revenue from more sources than just Dwarf Fortress Fans so definitely give it a go.
Masterwork Dwarf Fortress is pretty damn cool , can't say I've been able to use it a lot ( I'm dad to Twins 2y old so gaming isnt exactly really high on the list) but the times I've used it I really appreciated the possibilities it has.
