Vault Quest (interest check)
« on: May 13, 2015, 02:16:48 pm »

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in playing a game where you each control a member of a party of adventurers who are questing to kill a demon. This game will take place mostly in adventure mode with a few large scripted battles taking place in arena mode. You guys will decide where you want to go, what you want to pick up, etc. The map will have one vault in it (your end goal) and a few player fortresses with some "goodies" in them. I will use df-hack a lot to create items and bodyswap to manage the other characters. In travel stages, I will control the player you guys vote to be the leader, but in battles, I will use bodyswap to a nearby bug or something and let the battle take place independently.

What do you think?
What questions do you have?
Also, do you think this should be under the Dwarf Fortress Game board? Or this one?

Just a few questions:
What supplies would we start out with?
Can we designate different party members to have different jobs? Like one person be the designated food-carrier?
What happens if someone dies?
How many members will the group have?

I think each member will start out with default adventure equiptment (backpack, waterskin, one weapon, 5 units of food etc.)
If one member agrees to be the food carrier, then that is fine.
If someone dies, they can come back in as another character. I'm thinking of having more people join if the group recruits someone the normal way, (a fortress guard or something)
I think that 4-6 is a good range. It will depend on how many people say they are interested.

OK, I have decided that when the real game starts, it'll be in the Dwarf Fortress game board because it works better there. After several world gens, I think I've come up with a decent map with nice progression.

A few notes about the map.
Currently, the humans and dwarves are at war with the elves. So every time the party passes near some elven places (of which there are many) a large fight will take place.

"Demon Deep" and "Mountain Gate" are going to be two player forts that the party will have the option to go to. Mountain Gate will be a large pass through the mountains controlled by the elves and also have some goodies. And Demon Deep will be overun by the HFS, but have candy goodies inside.

The vault is right next to the Demon which is good. For the endgame, the party is going to have to fight the angels in the vault, then fight through 7546 goblins, 3807 trolls, 3793 blizzard men to speak the name of the Demon. Alternatively, the part could skip the vault and then kill the Demon.
