Finally
worked up the nerve to starting my own roleplay!
This cannot possibly end any way but well. So! This whole thing is set not too far in the future, in a galaxy far, far away, called Vedohntar. Being space n' stuff, there are a multitude of races that are not, in fact, shockingly human-like or even humanoid (although, for convenience, most on Nagantu are humanoid). But we can get to that stuff later.
The main characters (of which, at the start, there will be nine. I might include more later, but please don't count on it.) are all on the planet Nagantu to begin with, also for
alliteration convenience and plot stuff, but you won't have to be Nagantan. Everyone should speak the Standard (or Standard Language), or has cool implants I won't explain that allow them to speak it, which is how everyone is able to arbitrarily understand one another.
Nagantu was discovered and colonized about half a century ago, being the lone planet around a normal yellow star (Algedi Minor). The inhabitants were the technologically advanced (think modern Earth) dominant race, Nagantans, and other smaller species. The Nagantans had not learned space travel themselves, but were open to the spacefaring Lussar, who found Nagantu and Algedi Minor. After fifty years, the Lussar and other races had improved Nagantu's technology to about the base level of the galaxy, with ion-powered hover vehicles, very efficient space vehicles, things like that.
Name:
Gender: Optional, if you're a race of sentient rocks or something.
Species: Some of these will be down below, but if you use one of your own, a general description of them would be nice.
Description: What you look like. Be as purple prose-y or not as you like.
Magic: What kind of supernatural power you have! Could be pyrokinesis, teleportation, stopping time... Basically anything magic-y.
Backstory: Like your description, it doesn't have to be short or long. Everyone will get their powers basically at the same time, so don't include that here.
Humans / Earthlings: A large amount live all around in space, but they're by far not the largest population. Most other races consider them boring for their lack of horns, tails, fur, feathers, scales, claws, fins, poisonous gas-breathing abilities and bland cuisines.
Lussar: The Lussar are humanoid, spiked insects, not unlike maroon-colored praying mantises. About five feet tall on average, they are generally very peaceful. In Vedohntar, most Lussar have diplomatic positions. They have genders similar to humans, males being much darker than females.
Keduumthii: Keduumthii are all tall, amphibious bipeds of many 'cool' colors, able to secret a thin layer of slime that prevents their bodies from drying out. This allows them to migrate from their home planet Keduum, almost entirely ocean, to Nagantu, a much more industrialized and land-based world. They have genders similar to humans, with females being larger than males, as well as the 'dominant' gender.
Vendarians: Evolving on the hostile, scorching world of Vendaria, Vendarians have a naturally thick skin, resistance to high (but not low) temperature extremes, and great strength. Their magma-strewn planet is devoid of other sapient life, and Vendarians recently emerged into the galactic scene, so they don't have the easiest time communicating except with others of their race. Vendarians reproduce through eggs, and have no genders. All Vendarians produce one egg every five to seven Earth years.
Sentu Keevon: Possibly the strangest race living on Nagantu, the Sentu Keevon are simply a sentient fungus that live on mineral stones, amassed into a vaguely humanoid shape by unknown means. They communicate telepathically, in any and every language, and come as dazzling combinations of quartz, malachite, diamond, and other precious gemstones. Sentu Keevon are considered constructs and do not reproduce.
Name:
Homeworld: Optional.
Description: Average body shape, color, society, etc. Again, doesn't have any requirements or limitations. Go nuts.
I might come up with some sort of stat system soon, but for now just post your applications.
Also, please note that while everyone is a main character, nobody, strictly speaking, has to be the good guy. Be an anti-hero! Kill people to attain your goals! Act like an absolute douche simply because you can!
