Dawn of Evolution [Multiplayer]
« on: May 09, 2015, 12:08:31 am »

The dusts of an untamed planet swirl and divide, rocks cutting through the gritty mist like ships cutting through ocean waves. This is a planet untouched by life-or, at least, so it first appears. Beneath the sun-scoured surface a dramatic network of caverns leads to the planet's inner core. Life exists in two belts-near the surface, where solar radiation fuels organic life, and deep within the planet, where temperature does the same. All else is uninhabited; the surface is sterilized by gamma rays, the inner core creates insufferable heat, and the stretch between the habitable belts is simply empty, with no fuel for life.

And so the legend of the universe's mightiest empire begins.

Welcome to Dawn of Evolution! This is a multiplayer game inspired by my time on the spore forums. It employs the concept of a personal race to represent the player, allowing for the creation of whole new cultural and societal ideas. Be unbound from convention, and experience a true freedom of writing and creation.

To join, please fill out the following application:
Name of Race:
Physical Description:
Unusual Traits:
Location:(radiation belt or thermal belt)

All races will be starting without tool-making or higher levels of intelligence; still, feel free to interact with other players as a unified race.

I encourage you to be creative! Imagine what sort of strange creatures could exist on a planet of caves; slug-like creatures built to withstand pressure? Tunneling predators digging elaborate mazes as traps? It is all up to you.

He immediately begins to beavergoat the man quite thoroughly! At the very beginning, the man is mystified by James' actions, but his face quickly becomes a mask of horror when the procedure starts!

"OH GODS WHY? WHYYY?"

After a twenty minute session, the man is left white as a sheet, hairless and completely and utterly dead. James congratulates himself on a job well done!

Name of Race:Ixid
Physical Description: a central hairy orb connected by thick cylindrical flesh to four secondary orbs arranced in a tetrahedral form around the central. Three long, spindly, hair covered limbs extend from each secondary orb.
Unusual Traits: The species is a mobile filter feeder, absorbing nutrients room dust clouds, organic oozes, and the surfaces of objects they traverse. Highly dextrous, they climb with equal ease with which they walk. Lacking significant combat strength, they survive by numbers, and by being rather inedible, and generally a non-threat to other species.
Location:radiation belt

Sorry to say this, but I don't think this'll work if more people don't show up...

Does this look good? What were you looking for with unusual traits? Also, should I mention intelligence at all, or no? I have ideas, but I don't want to step on any toes in terms of where development should be.

Mmm. Could I make something involving dimensional shenanigans? Like storing extra mass in a pocket dimension or somesuch.

Name of Race: Humanity
Physical Description: A bipedal ape mostly devoid of hair.
Unusual Traits: While not possessing any unique strengths compared to other species, humans also have no apparent weaknesses. The deficiency in strengths is usually rectified as a human increases in age and gains new skills, usually specialising in one area but occasionally multiple.
Location: Radiation belt

Name of Race: The Yrb
Physical Description: Mats of brownish-white fungus composed of several symbiotic sub-species.  These organisms possess a distributed biology, with specialist cells forming structures and simple organs where energy and nutrients are sufficient to permit them.
Unusual Traits: Yrb cells are capable of forming impromptu synaptic linkages.  Over a large enough area, especially where nutrients are in excess, this allows the formation of pseudo-cerebral structures, mimicking the function of higher order brains and allowing limited psychic manipulation.  While the Yrb are a long, long way from being self-aware or even truly psychic, they have enough structure to be able to communicate a basic "do not eat" impulse to would-be predators, activating when parts of the fungal mats are being eaten.  For now, it is enough to give them an edge in competition.
