I do reserve the right to make up obviously stupid awnswers to required fields where I do not want to give that information. Also, asexuality is broader than yes/no.

...Which fields? I'm pretty sure all of the required questions are either not personal, or have an "other" field? Because nonsensical information is worse than just not taking the poll at all. A single "I'm a thousand years old" result can skew the average (but not median) of age really badly, eg, even though that's an extreme outlier :P

"Obviously stupid" is not really a thing in statistical surveys and such, because nobody is looking through each of the replies to filter out bad answers. Almost all of the analysis will be handled entirely by scripts. Unless you answered in a way that is extreme enough to obviously skew the results, chances are it'll be overlooked :(

Yay, filled.

Can you link the 2014 edition results? I'd kind of like to know the gender divide, as I feel like I may be quite the minority on this forum. :P

No worries.  This is the internet.  There are no girls on the internet, so you must be a boy, just all the rest of us.

You say that you don't want joke answers, but then you go and ask joke questions like "Have you accepted Tarn Adams as your lord and savior?"

Once I read that question I then decided that my time was better spent doing anything else and quit looking at the survey.

You can't ask for serious answers and then pull a 180 like that. It ruins the credibility of what you're trying to do.

Some of these questions are weird as hell.

I answered some joke answers where I didn't want to respond.

Filled out.

But looking at these internet speed posts. Gais. Gais. Say hello to

To me you are all gods. I have one of the fastest domestically available connections in my entire country (advertised as a whopping 10Mbps). I'm seriously considering moving to the US now. I CAN BARELY STREAM A YOUTUBE VIDEO IN 240P. Whoop whoop South Africa whoop whoop. If you are in the central business district of the largest city in the country and one of the biggest on the continent, you may be able to get 20Mbps. If you are willing to fork out the cash.

Do you guys seriously have domestic connections over 100Mbps? The concept of downloading a full length movie in a matter of less than a minute is mind-boggling to me. Forget that, you could see a game you like on Steam, purchase it, and be playing it in a total time of about 30 seconds. All of us here have to leave our PCs on and download stuff overnight.

Those speed tests posted that were several hundred Mbps weren't home internet connections, they were from universities I believe. On the other hand, there are a lot of places in the USA where you can get reliable download speeds in the 30-60Mbps range on a home connection, and some places where you can get 100+Mbps home connections.

You can't ask for serious answers and then pull a 180 like that. It ruins the credibility of what you're trying to do.
Mainly--The question stays for legacy. Also, non-serious questions are less statistically damaging than non-serious answers.

But all in all, your choice. vOv

Some of these questions are weird as hell.

I answered some joke answers where I didn't want to respond.
... may I ask which required questions you thought were weird as hell? Because really, I don't see any weird as hell required questions... and nobody tells me what they answered as a joke -.-

I never saw the 2014 one before -- possibly because I normally stay in the Dorf-mode board.  But, I'm in this one!

EDIT: I just remembered that dwarves can't equip halberds. That might explain why the squads that use them always die.

Maybe it's just me, but those questions about sexual orientation are a bit weird. Who cares how much heterosexual feel/think you are ?

I left out internet speed questions because I really don't care, I've got high speed and change often plans depending of how much I expect to torrent movies and TV series. As long as you have over 1Mbps, it doesn't change a lot of stuff on what you do on the internet. I mean, bay12 is about DF and the game is 30 mb, so why bother with those questions?

Anyway, I hope the results will be interesting, especially about the age and countries.

Lucky you.  My house celebrated when we got satellite internet, with a ping of 800, and a download rate of 2mbps. And with this, I play League (Silver 5), as well as dwarf fortress. You may start bowing now.

It's not about "who cares"--it's more about simply profiling Bay12. I don't know about the upper boards, but there's a feeling that there are an atypically large number of sexual minorities in the lower boards. A survey can help show if that feel is right. You're perfectly within your rights to leave that and the internet speed question blank.

My first online connection was at 300 baud.  If I started downloading a movie the day I bought that modem, it would still be downloading today.  Or on fire.
