Are badgers soul eating dwarf haters?
« on: May 06, 2015, 09:36:53 am »

In a previous fort, on my old computer, I lost of dwarves because badgers kept falling out of the sky and crushing the dwarves while they were taking a shower.

My newest fort, on my new computer, was hastily cobbled together.  Packs of wild badgers flooded into the dining room, at least 50 units from the surface, fought my dwarves, and died in droves there.  Then my dwarves refused to remove the bodies.  I had no coffins, and the orders at the workshop went ignored, but years passed and not a single ghost ever appeared.

Did the badgers eat their souls?

You see, when a badger and a dwarf die in together in combat, their souls are trapped together in an endless fight until Armok deems one a victor and sends that soul back as a titan or forgotten beast in the form of a giant Badger.

I'm tempted to believe that.

I'm not sure about badgers, but my breeding pair of Giant Wolverines are probably the most docile creatures I've ever owned. And the pups are cute, too!

Did...... no one else notice this wee snippet?

Also, Badgers are an infernal race of devious monsters with a lust for violence. They are bent on the destruction of civilization, but dwarves in particular.

Badgers have !!RAGE!! unlike most animals.  I haven't had serious problems with them though.

Wait a minute...  Your dwarves shower?  What are you, some kind of elf?

I don't think elves clean themselves. Soap is made from wood, but according to my understanding elves have such a poor understanding of the concept that they buy soap from dwarves anyway. I haven't tried to waste soap on elves, though.

I've had dwarves who were half drowned while being showered by screw pumps and got happy thoughts about waterfalls from it (I was trying to apply the double slit aquifer penetration method).

Go and play some DF2010. Preferably in temperate biomes.

Know of the true face of the badger. And the giant badger.

WHAT ABOUT THE BADGERS. Showering is one thing, but meteoric badgers impacting dwarves mid-action is a problem of apocalyptic hilarity.

Quite so. Imagine if that was a common occurrence!

Ok so, what about an evil rain that causes dwarves to turn into badgers and explode?
