Make sure you guys bring at least 2 Medkits and 2 Battle Scanners. The wide open angles of a small UFO crash site (Solymr confirmed it's in the forest) can be really awkward to fight through, so the scanners will help make sure you don't get surprised by Sectoids crawling up your flank while you're busy dealing with stuff on the front. Also, at least one of you should pack an SMG for the extra movement so you can scout a bit more aggressively; when the whole squad is limiting themselves to half moves so as not to get surprised, having a high half movement range on a soldier acting as advance scout will effectively increase the movement range of all his teammates because they know they can move up behind him/her without triggering any pods.

(A 'pod' is the colloquially-accepted term for a group of aliens in XCOM. When you activate 3-4 Sectoids, for example, those Sectoids are said to be together in a 'pod'.)

It might actually be worth it to wait until Ivan is unfatigued, assuming UFO missions last ~32 hours before expiring like they do in Vanilla. That way he can level up off this mission.

In any case, I vote for:
Andrea Stirling, SPEC Engineer (Xvareon)
Noel Hiraya, PFC (Tiruin)
Arthur Pierce, PFC (Hawk123)
Derek Zhang, PFC (Pencil_Art)
Harriet Bradley, PFC (scapheap)
Pietro Vilkas, PFC (NAV)

If we do wait for Ivan (And actually, I vote we do that), then I'll change my vote to include him in the mix.

1 SPEC, 5 PFC, no contest. The other specs will come back.

Also, did everyone forget? We switched out two interceptors with Stingrays for Small sized UFOs. Avalance is for Scout.

I crunched the numbers on weapons (because I'm the sort of person who finds maths and spreadsheets fun) and I have to say, Carbines are almost worthless, at least in the early game, both the tier 1 and 2 carbines are really only any good if you expect to take lots of shots at below 20% hit rate, else you should take an Assault Rifle/Laser Rifle.
That is not to say the SMG is useless, it gives a good amount of additional movement, making it good for meld runners and people who don't often use their main weapon, like Rocketeers.
