Preferred monsters

While I know Toady plans to make it more randomly generated than this i'm curious which monsters which aren't currently in vanilla would you you guys like to see?

I'd really like to see Dwarf-constructed golems.  That would be sweet.  Give them a chance of going rogue depending on creator skill?

Orks as the Goblins heavy duty assault units. Of course green blooded and in extreme large numbers always wielding minimum full iron gear at all times.
And additional Ogers as the Goblins version of titans as additional fortress breaker.

Gorgons and sphinxes. They would add great modding potential, interesting megabeast behaviors, and challenges to the game. Also, phoenixes, manticores (the type that shoot their tail spines), krakens, and gargoyles (the type that turns into statues) for similar reasons, though the first two cover many of those.

things that cause problems which are not easy to solve with brute force.

Sneaky trap immune guzzlers, like mountain gnomes.

Packs of wild grazers (would require wild things to graze) that come through and voraciously devour your cave moss before moving rapidly on.

building destroyers that are not megabeasts.  supper efficient termites, for instance, that tear down wooden structures.  (cave?) locusts that destroy crops.

more of the troublemaking lever-pullers, perhaps ones that also knock down constructions.

maybe some of these could produce syndromes (like skunks..) when attacked.

In short, things that require lateral thinking to deal with.

Armored war animals and siege mounts would be cool, too.

Imagine a goblin elite marksman riding an armored giant eagle into battle?  And a flying mount + archer AI that would have the mount not close to melee but stand off and let the rider snipe at you?  I can picture a whole squad of marksdwarves desperately firing quiver after quiver of *copper bolt*s at the thing trying to bring it down, deflecting off the armor until one strikes home and the confused goblin rider goes sailing down to the ground to explode in a shower of gobbo gibs.

More kinds of dragons like the ones from Masterwork

Demons/Angels that assume the form of one of the 5 races and use adventurers to do their dirty job

Gods that actually spawn in the world and do stuff

Pirates

All of the planned night creatures that are on the wiki page

Make ghosts more interesting like the ones from Lord of The Rings:Return of The King

Cavern-dwelling civilizations capable of sieges and ambushes. Different kinds of sentient "natives" in the style of animal men on the surface. Also, more active animal men in the caverns (and surface).

Several kinds of ghosts who act differently depending on how they came to be. Poltergeists that mess with levers and furniture in the fort, ones who just don't understand they're dead and wander around living their daily lives until they find their slabs, Murder victims who won't go away until the perpetrators are punished... The list goes on. Ways of dealing with them could vary.

I imagine goblins as more like LOTR goblins, as in a synonym of orc, though generally referring to the smaller weaker ones. I mean, Dwarf Fortress goblins are 6/7 the size of a human when most of the time goblins are like, 3/7 the size of a human. Then they're also unaging, which I think LOTR orcs are? Anyway, if by ogers you mean ogres then they're already in the game in evil swamps.

Its a feature. Impregnating booze is a planned tech tree for dwarves and this is a sneak peek at it.

I second the gods and angels/demons...I really would like to see religion play a much larger role in the game.

Anger a god and me might send some angels (or show up himself) to stomp you out, demons at random to cause chaos, angels or demons to aid you if you get their favor. And who knows maybe an ascension system that lets people become gods so that dead gods can be replaced

A Kraken as an aquatic megabeast would be cool, if they could attack coastal civs
also maybe Matt Damon, and Ben Aflek. I'm think'n Matt as a Mega, and Ben as a SemiMega.
