Animal Justice: A Threetoe Story
« on: June 01, 2008, 04:38:00 am »

A new Threetoe story.  He's been writing ASCII Art Rewards for donations instead of his own stories for a while, but there was a lull when he caught up, so he was able to put this together.

Awesome story. We need all the animal-men that were mentioned in it.

First of all, this story was written with an evil (or typical) dwarf mode player in mind. If you are wondering why the dwarves didn't honor the alliance that was forged fighting the demon, it's because you or one of your friends started playing their fort. As usual, the analysis is partial since we've already written a lot of the elements up in other places.

Hilarious.

The insight to the elven mind was very interesting. Especially since the general opinion towards elf slaughtering is at the least encouraging. And displaying the player as a cruel and evil as-good-as-a-goblin brings up things I haven't really given much thought to while playing Fortress Mode. Like destroying the environment and cheerfully splattering so many creatures that the traps get stuck.

I also really liked the fact that there's animalmen for every animal. It just got me wondering what has caused the animals to become anthropomorphized in the first place.

The legendary (and magical) pets and items are something I really look forward to in the Artifact Arc. Well, I'm not sure if the pets will be included there, but all other kinds of cool items. It'd be splendid to get a token of power from some significant member of some civilization. Like the goblins' scepter of power, which could be something like the horn of their deceased demon god.

The story was great in so many ways. It makes me want to read more works of ThreeToe.

Ah, wonderful!
Hopefully we will get yet another one soon?

(Thou, I'd still want to see a similar analysis of some of the fan stories...)

Yay! I absolutely lol'd at the Elf Princes' prayers for each plank of the trees. I hope the elves never visit a human community. I just wonder where they get the wood for they're own weapons.

Though it is surprising that Elves hate Goblins so much more then everyone else compared that they harm nature the least out of everyone else, even the Elves.

I guess that is what happens when you snatch babies so much... eventually someone gets angry for no reason.

I am also a bit surprised by what the god said. It is interesting in the fact that the god is actually a limiting factor on how much the elves can evolve their culture.

I think its just because they're tree hugging hippies.

Loved the story, I had thought threetoe quit or died or something =/

Woo! TreeToe, good to see another one of your stories. And a particularly good one at that. I hope you'll be able to craft a few more.

Interesting, but given elven attitudes toward animal products, you'd think they'd have issues with carnivorous animals, or atleast animal-men, who by necessity kill things, yet being sapient, should be able to rise above their baser nature or some other treehugger nonsense.

Wonderful. If possible, I think it would be incredibly interesting to get more of an insight into the elfs minds and culture, or that of the other races.
