Of course!  I've used stonesense before, but I saw somewhere a full 3-D visualizer.  Anyone know the name of it, or have a topic for it?

IIRC, it doesn't work with buildings

I've heard Minecart Airlines Express offers nice trips to nobility. Alternative trips include a voyage over the volcano. Call 1-800-I-THE-GUINEAPIG-VOLUNTEER and book now!
My fucking armok, you broke the game.

Dwarves dig tunnels, elves build bridges.  :P

But a tunnel would be so much easier, and dwarves always do things the hardest, most impractical way possible.

Do a Tunnel AND a Bridge.

Dwarfes always have backup plans.

Build the bridge directly over the tunnel with only floor tiles separating them, so that when the bridge collapses it takes the tunnel with it.

Dwarves always have shoddy back up plans.

Always a safe default assumption in this game

The real problem with building bridges is crossing region-tiles.  There is no way to overlap from one side to the other, so yo ucan't tell if you are lining up the bridge from one tile to the next.  Even if you could, since you can't overlap you'll eventually hit a region-map of nothing but water.  Even with embark anywhere your dorfs would all drown without being able to overlap part of the bridge from one map quadrant to the next.  At best you'd have to embark with several units of stone/wood during the winter and set up a pillar through the ice that has underground access as well (so 3x3 with a central staircase bar-minimum).

However I've done exactly what you are doing before- briding something to the mainland within a region-map tile.  It's definitely a nifty little mega project to do :)
