Where are the water and magma raws?
« on: May 04, 2015, 05:04:50 am »

Where are the magma and water raws located? I looked through the raws folder and they aren't there unless I missed something...

I ask because I was wondering what would happen if you changed the worlds water into magma.

I think they are hard coded.

Intelligent is a strong word to use around DF.
you're lucky it wasn't an adventurer.  I've heard they can bash your skull in by throwing water at you.  UNDERWATER

I take it that means using a hex editor to change them then...

Ok thanks a lot!

Probably a bit more/less complicated than that, depending on exactly what you're trying to do.

I was hoping to set the water stats (temperature, flow speed, etc, etc) to those of magma, thus changing all the water in a world to magma and creating some apocalyptic world for dwarves to try and survive in.

I was trying to create lots of !!FUN!!

I doubt you can really do that.  Again, most of those properties are hard-coded, and the way that the game is structurally built, it cannot have water and magma in the same tile, for example.  (It's a bitflag in the properties of the tile, itself.)

The way that the game is designed, I'm not sure you can make the game recognize water as forcing a given temperature, rather than being the ambient temperature or preventing freezing when it is cold, as it may be hard-coded reactions.
