I feel like i ran out of things to do as a combat oriented character in 20 minutes of play time. This game is obviously not geared for that or I missed it (likely).

I'm pretty much giving a heads up, my interest in the game has waned, so I might not be online as much, well, if at all. Was a fun game, but I lose interest in a game when I stop learning.

That's exactly how I felt and why I stopped playing.

I dunno, I mean, like Neonivek says, it's about tenacity. You don't really feel like achieving anything as a combat character other than... skinning things for leather workers. You log on, kill stuff, skin things, give it to Xardalas, and when very occasionally the empire needs soldiers, you go watch awesomely geard dwarven king and nobles kill things and hope that you become stronk like that as well.

I'm probably being a little too harsh, but if you've already played this game, you know what I mean.

I'm one of those awesomely geared characters. And I have nothing to do aside from pan for gold, dig for enchanting stones, or collect leather.

And I don't see any real combat in the foreseeable future. We don't have a military strong enough to attack the higher-ranking empire, and attacking smaller empires just makes us look like a bully. Furthermore we have trade agreements and non-aggression pacts with nearly everyone on the top list.

On Tradesea: I've started to do designs myself, rip it up if its wrong, or let me know and I'll rip it up. Caveshelters denote future trenches (only the corners are marked).

On people growing bored: If there are no wars and no pve, fighting people will grow bored. What do armies do during peacetime? They train. As in, wargames, exercises, etc. I suggest we develop some wargames or even organize military exercises with another empire. Truth is, we have no idea how a major war would be fought. What abilities are useful, which ones are junk and not worth the time, what things are broken, what strategies work, etc. I suggest a new city 'warcamp' and an agreement on a 'limited' war with one of the other top empires to only be allowed to burn that city (they build a similar city, like a red vs blue exercise). We can even each put a couple of bars of gold into the pot to give some incentive to fight/steal. One of you bored people can set up the city, the design is irrelevant (or maximum defensibility, your call).

I'm actually thinking of forming a sort of "barbarian group" that focuses primarily on utilizing large numbers of low-skill characters. We'd die a lot sure, but there's no real penalty for death so...

We really won't need any crafting skills. Low-skill characters can't really use much. I already have an alt for it. Iron blades for weapons, leatherworking for shoes, wineskins, saddles, and backpacks. And most importantly, siege works for catapults.

Of course there are massive political ramifications, so we'd probably have to splinter off; but better splintering off than losing players due to boredom.

Are people still playing this? Do we have much to do?

I made a character called Sirrus and went to the eastern soul tower.

Yeah, we're active at the moment and the world is about 9 days old, so there's plenty to do such as building structures and roads etc. There's not a lot of people online right now in our empire but I figured out how to get to the eastern tower of souls from our capital so I can pick you up if you want.

Yeah, I've dropped out as well. There just isn't much to be done. That and some balance reasons drove me out. It was all sorts of fun while it lasted, but right now there just isn't much to do when you  hit the top.

Hi, my character is Mash, a squire. Sethfire has kindly delivered me to Eaglestone and I am awaiting orders.

Hi guys, I've been lurking this thread since it was started just to kind of get a feel for what's going on with the largest Empire on our game.

I'd just like to point out to some people that we've been in beta for a week and two days. The purpose of beta is to find and address balance issues. If you have an issue with something that occurs in the game, please submit it via idea, bug or typo. If we don't know about something, we can't fix or adjust it. It is something I've noticed in general that the people who have the most issues with balance and quit over it tend to have the fewest reports for some reason.

As for the lack of things to do for combatants, more content will be forthcoming. If you feel like there is nothing to do as a combatant but gather leather, I recommend checking out the existing adventure zones. There's at least five dungeon areas currently that you can go out and explore to get loot for your character.

Thorgrim Stonehammer would like to announce his abdication of the throne of High King of The Dwarven Empire in favour of Iku Akume, the greatest Archmage in all of the land. It is with great regret that he must bid farewell to all his truest and most loyal subjects who have supported him and he hopes they will support Iku just as much.

I didn't feel I'd have enough time to give to the Empire and to other stuff I want to get done, so I've decided to step down. I'll still be on for crafting and playing, just not as much.
