You are a slime. For years you have been mocked and belittled, constantly being misrepresented in media. But no more!! Soon you will show the world your true might. But first, you must deal with these others who's only goal in life is to undermine you.
So this is an RTD were you play as a slime in an arena where you fight against other slimes. Your only goal is to be the last slime standing. Unlike most arenas, there is a huge emphasis on hunting other animals in order to grow strong enough to reliably kill your opponents.
There are going to be multiple types of slimes but since this is the first round (and my first RTD) I'm going to have to restrict you guys to one type (sorry)
The Water Based Slime:- Basic and easiest slime
- Made of mostly water
- Digests food by first engulfing victim and drowning them, then drains bodily fluids, then waits for rest of corpse to rot inside
- Will be able to transform parts of it into ice
- Can disguise as well... water
- basic shape-shifting abilities that grow more advanced as one levels up
- A few hidden exotic abilities
Stats:Mass:Your health and Experience combined. When you digest enough mass to reach a certain threshold you level up and gain stat points and sometimes perks
Density: How much Mass per litre(decimals allowed). A higher density boosts damage of attacks(compare someone throwing mud at you, to someone throwing a rock at you) makes you able to shapeshift into tighter forms (with a high enough density you can shapeshift into a humanoid for example) as well as gives you resistance to damage. The downside is that if you do get damaged by certain objects (for example a shovel or a vacuum), you lose more Mass than if you had a lower density. Also a higher density makes you slower and it is harder to fit through small cracks. If density becomes too low then you die. Density is a stat that your slime will constantly be changing on the fly to adapt to the situation. Your maximum density is by default 4kg per litre
Size: How big your slime is essentially. Is it knee high, waist high, size of a person, size of a room, size of a house? The larger your size the faster and more agile you are. Also boosts jump height which is very important in later stages of the game. Another thing about going for size over density is that it makes you more vulnerable to damage but you lose less mass most of the time (for example, throwing a grenade into a low density slime usually one-shots it, while a sword slash will be more likely to cut off a small chunk but since that chunk isn't particularly dense you don't lose much mass). If size falls below a certain threshold you die. This stat is determined by Mass/density. You cannot directly influence this stat, you can only change it by changing density
Command: if you decide to split yourself into 2 slimes (you can split almost infinitely, but be wary, you lose mass every time you do so), they must be within a certain distance of each-other before one just becomes an inert pile of goo. The higher your command stat the farther apart they can be. Please note, when splitting, one must designate a mother slime who distance will be based off of. Any slime that is farther from the mother slime than the distance that the command stat allows will immediately turn into inert goo, this prevents one from simply making a chain of slimes. The mother slime can be re designated if one is within a third of the distance the command stat gives a bonus to. ( what this means is that if the command stat allows my slimes to be 3m apart, then if a slime closes into a distance of 1m then I can designate it as the new mother slime). If a mother slime dies, then the nearest friendly slime next to it becomes the new mother slime. One level in command allows your slimes to be 1 meter(tile) apart.
Pinocytosis: One is going to encounter other slimes at some point. Since you can't really slap a slime to death with a pseudopod (possible, but very difficult) you are usually expected to kill it by fusing with it to create one bigger slime. The more mass a slime has the bigger a bonus to Pinocytosis it gets. When slimes decided to fuse with each-other they make a mitosis contest, one wins by having rolled 2 higher than the loser, otherwise it's a tie. Whoever wins the pinocytosis contest then becomes the consciousness of the new slime. Pinocytosis is also important in reclaiming chunks that were chopped off of you as well as re-fusing with your fellow slimes. The higher this stat the more likely you are to win these pinocytosis contests and the the faster you re-fuse
Suction: If a person decides to pet a slime, the slime will most likely try to suck them in. The higher this stat the better you are at sucking something (or someone) inside your gelatinous mass as well as keeping them there. It also improves the speed at which you expel unwanted things (such as a bomb). If you expel something hard enough, the projectile can be weaponized, thus this skill governs your ability to throw things as well. This skill also affects your ability to grab. At especially high levels one can be able to climb walls of varying degrees of friction. (Please note, a high density and weight makes this harder)
Weight: the amount of useless mass you have inside of you. This may be undigested food or some sort of incompatible to-be-thrown object like a rock. All this does is slow you down. You want this to be as low as possible, unless you are ambushing someone from above and trying to crush them.
I apologize if this is a bit much for you guys to read but I feel that I must properly explain what each stat does.
Character creation: At the start, you are given 3 stat points that you can then apply to the basic character template. These can be used to upgrade command, reverse-mitosis, or suction by 1. You can also at level 1 instead spend stat points to increase your mass by 5kg for each point. You can also change your starting density
Name: Write down name and colour
Type: Water-based slime
Level:1
Mass: 40kg
Density: 1kg per litre
Size: 40 litres. Every 5 litres makes you move an extra square
Command: 0
Pinocytosis:0
Suction: 0
Weight:0
Character destruction: the most likely way you are going to die is by being a victim of pinocytosis or by having one of your stats reach one of these thresholds:
Minimum mass: 21
Minimum density: 0.7kg per litre
Minimum size: 30 litres
Character Progression: As I mentioned earlier there is going to be an emphasis on hunting other creatures in order to grow. Each type of slime has their own list of things that they can and can not digest; as well as a method of how they digest it. Once an object has been digested it is added to your mass. Once you gain enough mass, you level up and gain 3 stat points (I might change that number if it proves not to be balanced) and on some levels you also get to choose a perk. There are ways to speed up digestion but you will have to figure them out on your own.
How turns are going to work: It'll be surprisingly freeform. You guys suggest actions and I will decide whether you have enough time to accomplish all of them in a single turn. If you can't, I will notify you guys and ask if you want to change your turn. I will then roll for them, adding stat and circumstance bonuses.
Starting Water slime actions:Minor shapeshifting, (such as pseudopods). adds movement penalty
Change density, adds movement penalty
Attack
Move
Jump (also affected by movement penalties)
Engulf/grab
Expel
Dump mass
Split into 2 slimes
Anything else you expect a slime to be able to do
So these are the maps of the first arena
Areas are: Reactor explosion site. Charred forest, Hunting grounds, Plains of visibility, The town of Chernogascishima, the Desert of Heat
If there is anything that I didn't make clear please feel free to ask. Sorry for the wall of text.
