> The Sense Link bridges the gap between your mind and that of the target animal, sending its sensory input to you. What if you reversed the flow and send something to it instead? Some false memory or sensation? Maybe you could induce artificial terror? This holds potential... (Costs 1 Mana)

> While building the mana trap, you noticed a odd quirk about the vortex. More mana seems to flow out if than does into it. In addition, the outflow has a slightly different tinge to its essence. You believe interesting things could come from investigating this further. (Mana can be invested but does not need to be.)

Haste

> If it is not possible to interact directly with animals outside the bound of Sense Link without causing them to explode, what of interacting with the very air around them? This indirect telekinesis might prove an elegant solution to bringing live animals to you without reducing them to useless chunks of flesh

+1, but spend two mana on each. We are getting 8 mana per turn, so we can afford it...

.... You've doomed us all. Granted. Everyone except for traps are executed. Random sci-fi nonsense is required to be taught in schools.

They're alive, just not updating, AFAIK...  Sad.

Updating this is one of those things I intend to do, but just haven't gotten around to yet.

      Time Passes
> Haste [-1 Mana]
      Time Slows Down

>Air Manipulation
You pour mana into the air itself, and immediately feel it stiffen into a solid object which you can freely shape. While less efficient than direct telekinesis this does increase your options and works fine on the couple of panicking birds you grabbed with it. Success! You believe Air Manipulation can be further refined into other uses, one of which you have already conceived.

[Improved Mana Manipulation. Learned Air Manipulation. -1 Mana]

> Reverse Sense Link

It requires extensive analysis of the Sense Link spell, but eventually you find the precise components to tweak and how to change them. Creating a false of a predator sends a rodent scurrying and quivering in fear. A bright flash of phantom light has a bird blinking its eyes and squawking in consternation at it's flight becomes unstable.

Sadly you run out of mana before you can try direct emotional manipulation, but you think it should be simple enough.

You also gain insight into why Sense Link doesn't cause animals to explode. It seems that forming mana into ordered patterns helps prevent excess mana being radiated out from it in a way that tends to cause explosions in animals. While simple in concept, this is an important building block in your understanding of mana.

[Refined Sense Link. Improved Mana Theory. Learned Rudimentary Mind Manipulation. -1 Mana]
[Gained understanding of spellcraft, the ordered patterning of mana, for more efficient mana usage and allowing more varied effects on animals as well as generally allowing you to achieve more complex effects than you can through raw mana manipulation. It trades in flexibility for this however.]

> Investigate Mana Vortex

You just did not have enough prior knowledge of leylines, or use enough mana to quite work out what was going. All you know for sure is that the mana flowing out of the vortex is the not the same mana flowing into it, which somehow disappears instead.

[Improved Understanding of Leylines. -1 Mana]

EVENT

Throughout the decade strange vines of purple colouration have started growing all over you. At first you didn't think much of it, until you noticed the vines slowly draining away part of your stored mana. While unable to damage your physical form at all, they are stealing from your hard-earned stores. You bubble with stony rage as you consider how to deal with this punk.

What do you do over the next decade? (Pick Two)
(Haste can be cast for an extra action, costing 1 mana)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
*New*
> Mind Manipulation, Emotion: You have gained the ability to induce false sensation, but how about false emotions? (Costs at least 2 Mana)
> Mana Vortex Redo: You could try investigating the Mana Vortex again, using more mana this time (2 Mana Minimum)
> Drain Life, Unstructured: Now that you can grab larger animals, you can try draining life from them again (Required at least 2 Mana)
> Drain Life, Structured: Using your new knowledge of spellcraft, perhaps you could try making a new life draining spell pattern instead of trying to gain a similar effect with unstructured magical manipulation? (Requires mana, specify how much)
> Vines, Explosion: It wants mana? You'll give it mana! Use explosion on the vine, even though you haven't actually ever tested that out on a plant, and it may end up just feeding the vines instead. (Requires mana)
> Vines, Denial: Rather than attacking the vines directly, you could deny them access to your mana stores through some sort of shielding effect. (Requires mana, likely to require maintenance to keep up)
> Vines, Wind Blade: You think you could form the air into a thin sharp blade, and then send that slicing through the vines. (At least 2 Mana)
> Vines, Life Drain: You had thoughts of trying something like this the last time you were covered with vines, so why not attempt to suck the life right out of them? (Requires mana)
> Vines, Study: Before anything else, it might be illuminating to work out just how exactly the vines are stealing your mana. Not only would this help you determine the best way to deal with them, it'll help you to do something similar sometime in the future if you desire.

Mana Pool: 10/?? Mana
Mana Income: (3(Base)+1(Mana Trap))*2(Mana Trap)-1(Vines)= 7 Mana/decade
Your weight: 10 metric tonnes
Sensory Range: 100 metres
Closest Non-"Owned" Leyline: 37 Metres

Haste -1 mana

Vines, Study -1 mana

explore down the leyline again -2 mana

Rather than forming the substance itself, you would like to see what happens when mana mimics lightning's movements, striking a object with blinding speed -2 mana

Next time we can kill the vines.
