Zero-K is a free, multiplatform, open-source RTS game where massive robot armies fight an endless conflict. It has a powerful interface allowing players precision control over high level economic, strategic and tactical decisions. Units interact intuitively using real projectile and movement physics. It boasts over 100 diverse units including Vehicles, Tanks, Hovercraft, Planes, Gunships, Ships, Spiders walkers and dozens of different robots offering unique strategies and constantly moving combat.

Epic Scale from tiny flea-bots to huge mechs and gigantic superweapons that wreak havoc - hundreds or thousands of units on the battlefield, all easily viewable with a fully pannable and zoomable camera.
Realistic Physics mean each shot is physically simulated realtime - you can actually evade bullets if you micro-manage your units! Hills and terrain affect line of sight and radar coverage, and explosions deform the terrain.
Planet Wars lets you take control of your own planet and fight for survival in an ongoing online campaign!
Natural Balance allows units to depend on their natural characteristics and the benefits of the simulated environment, not contrived special damages to determine their effectiveness.
Terraforming - change the terrain: walls, ditches, ramps and more, to provide yourself with an extra tactical advantage.
Unique Abilities make sure units are fun to use! From jump-jets, gravity turrets, mobile shields, burning napalm, air drops, unit morphs - we've got it all and more!
Streamlined Economy - the economic system is complex without being tedious, with a simple interface and controls. Resources are unlimited and output can be scaled up as the game progresses, allowing for increasingly intense battles. The system is also designed to minimize slippery slope and allow skilled players to make comebacks from losing positions.

I beg to differ. I fully admit I'm just not a big fan of this economy system, but I do find it tedious and annoying.

That said, I've played quite some zero K (and other spring project mods) in the past, and I did enjoy it a lot. Chicken mode can be really fun. But the economy always kinda felt like a chore or distracting from the more fun elements.

That's weird, in Chicken mode, the metal and energy are shared, so you don't really have to worry about them.

Nah, I meant in general. I don't really like the system of lots of small metal extraction points, and different levels of collectors, and energy buildings, and having to keep track of all that, etc. Though the automation systems do help.

This game is why I can't play Starcraft II. The Zero-K UI is just amazing with what it can do.

Also, cloaky factory best factory.

ZK is definitely fun.  I haven't played in a long time, but if you guys want to set for up some small teamgames or 1v1s I'd be up for it.

too much snowballing, I still prefer old balanced ta where a team in slight disadvantage on resource or tech play can pull a comeback in strategic play, that said, I like chicken as less stressful than competitive play.

I go by cain there, written some of original ai interfaces a million years ago

Not the first :P Probably missed one or two, too...

Though they're all pretty old and usually more diversified into all spring games instead of just zero-k. Spring games seem to pop up on OG once or twice a year, fairly regularly, get a little attention for a bit and die back down. Still, most of the spring stuff's nice. I liked the occasional game of chicken during those periods I don't have spring purged from the computer to free up hard drive space.

One of these days I'm actually going to have a round of gundam with someone :-\

Some additional features that should also be mentioned:
Line move - instead of pinpointing where your units should go, one can draw a line of move order making your unit create one without tedious micro.
Diversity - each unit plays differently, has its own role and most of the time, some special mechanic that makes even more unique (like slowing damage, jumpjets or rapid regeneration for example).
Flat factionless techtree - every single unit and building can be built from the start of the game, if certain factory that can build them is made that is, not limiting strategical options of a player.
Dynamic and slow - the speed of the gameplay is very much dependant on team size, as in the game is very fast paced in 1v1s where one needs to do everything alone compared to team 2v2 game, where the resources and front is split between 2 players and the casuality only increases with the number of players.

It's also fair to say that game is balanced mostly around 1v1 games but with team games in mind, that can get up to 10v10 games.

Keep in mind that Zero-K also has its issues. Most notably a lack of matchmaking that is a result of small playerbase that cannot support it. Its not like the game has no community and there are games played most of the time but nowhere near a number that can support matchmaking. ZK is also almost not polished at all and that comes from a lack of developers that just don't have enough time to do that. That means that game has bugs and issues, but it is not like it makes the game unplayable (most of the time at the very least as far as I know).
On that happy ending note come by 1v1 room to have a little duel with me  :D

I tried to download it but it just refuses to.

After I download set-up and click it, internet explorer tab shows up ( even thou I am using chrome ) and then just goes blank without any website loading, then automatically disappears...

Tell me what kind of OS and what version of NET do you have ok?

I am using a friends computer because mine is not available.

Windows 7
I have no idea how to check NET of this computer... but this computer is from 2009..
