Oh man, both of those look like they could be useful.

Currently I'm set up as Hive World - Outcast (Fieldcraft) - Assassin. I might change to a Feral World, because the ability to make any low-tech weapon I pick up better sounds pretty promising.

Sirus, if you'd like to have both then start with Jaded. Leap Up would be cheaper to purchase with initial exp. points or later into the game. Jaded would cost 400xp, Leap up would cost 200.

Inspired by the character I've been wanting to play in a different campaign, I'm considering playing a character who likes some minor to moderate tech-heresy.

Noted. Since it doesn't appear to be in 1st edition, could you please tell me what it means when a weapon has the Proven (3) quality?

Proven (X) is a Weapon Quality that replaces any damage roll lower than X with X. Therefore, Proven (3) means that any damage roll of 1 or 2 is considered to be 3 instead. The Feral World's unique bonus isn't too shabby since your Low-Tech melee weapons will pack a punch even if you haven't made them mono yet. In case you're going to focus solely on chain or other more techy melee weaponry, then it isn't that good. You can pick starting acquisitions of up to Scarce, the number determined by the first digit of your Influence, the max rarity being Scarce, meaning you can get a good-craftsmanship sword (Sword is Common +2 steps for Good = Scarce).

My character will probably be: Shrine/Void/Forge World - Adeptus Administratum - Sage.

All we need is a face.

I'll make one when I've got time.

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

There can (should) be some overlap in roles and whatnot since that's healthy in a DH party, specially if you have more than one combat-focused character to hide behind and usually even the nerdy people are able to take a few potshots during combat. Meaning more people with character concepts/builds would be nice.

I'm making my character into a tech enthusiast/acquisitions expert and he won't be too bad with ranged weapons, though I may focus on pistols.

Face and another melee character

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Could somebody tell me what a roll of 78 on divination is, and what traits I could use?

Otherwise, is this alright?

We could probably do with some shooting, in truth, if we've already got me and sirus for melee.

Ok, then I'll just swap the Ballistic and Weapon skill, but then I'd just have a hand flamer if I also switched equipment. I could probably buy a better long range weapon at some point down the line.

My character can do the shootin' and having you all be meat shields doesn't sound too bad at all. And it seems everyone is rolling crap for the Blessing and getting fives for their Wounds.

Your traits are those granted by Background, Role or Homeworld. Like Breeding Counts, for example.

76-79: The only true fear is dying without your duty done. This character gains the Resistance (Cold,  Heat, or Fear) talent. If he already possesses this talent, increase his Toughness characteristic by 2 instead.

Edit: take the tens digit of your Influence. You can have, at game start, that number of "free" items up to Scarce availability, minimum of three for Highborn. You can start with a long-las or sniper rifle.

I do intend to focus primarily on chain weapons, but I'm also anticipating that a chainsword won't always be available. Perhaps I'll be sneaking and need something without a loud engine. Maybe the chainsword will break down, or I'll lose it somehow. In all of these cases, my character would be able to pick up anything available (even an improvised weapon) and still be able to do decent damage with it.

That's my current logic, anyway. Also I'm thinking of using Solid Projectile ranged weapons; lasguns are flashy and all, but I do like the idea of having different types of ammunition available.

If there's still room, I'd like to make a Forge World Imperial Guard Desperado. What would be good ways to build that?
