Name: Aelia Saguina (taken name)
Aelia Saguina is a young woman of 18 standard years old. She is barely over five feet tall, with short, black hair and narrow, cold blue eyes. Her build is slim and delicately featured, her porclain-pale skin making suggesting to the viewer a doll. She wears a pair of glasses perched on her nose for reading and close surgery. Her armoured bodyglove is a demure white, bordered in red - the colours of the healer has always been the shades of blood and bandages. She wears some plain flak armour, painted similarly, with a aquila emblazoned across the chest. As a matter of course, a surgical mask is either around her face or around her neck, ready to be pulled up. She wears a stub pistol shell casing as a necklace; the broken, twisted remains of a small aquila are contained within.
She is young and inexperienced, however, and not sure of her skills as she perhaps could be. In an attempt to seem confident, she puts up a quiet, serious front. As one might expect, she is devout, with a deep and abiding hatred for the dark forces in particular. When she fights, she does so with eyes narrowed further and teeth gritted.
Born as Conchita Cruel on the shrine world Alcarik II. Her parents were crafters - carving small wooden tokens of worship and figurines to sell to pilgrims. The world was dedicated to a colossal cathedral - the architect Samal Yorkarius' finest work, a vast building visible from orbit, containing the bones of Saint Ibrim.
Surrounded by the scented forests of horan trees, the bark of which was used for incense. It was a peaceful world, for the most part - the moon hosted a Imperial Naval fleet outpost, which protected the planet from the ork Freebootaz that roamed the region.
The seventh child, Conchita was sent to the local Adepta Sororitas chapter - the minor Hospitaller order called the Order of the Weeping Skull - with nothing more than a small metal aquila necklace and the clothes on her back. She showed an early talent for medical matters, if quiet and uncooperative, and was even disciplined thrice for fighting with other initiates. There, she took up the name she goes by now: Aelia Saguina, after a previous Canoness of the Order.
But even in this sacred place, darkness can lurk. At the age of thirteen, she was kidnapped along with seven other Sisters-in-training by a cult of the dark powers. One by one, the others were sacrificed. When it came to her turn, she was saved by it being then an Inqisitorial team chose the moment to intervene. In the sudden distraction caused, she bit out an artery in the head cultist's neck, obtained his knife, and freed her bonds. She managed to stab another cultist to death in the chaos before she was shot in the chest.
Of course, a young girl can't get shot in the chest and keep going. Fortunately, being near a order dedicated to healing is a good thing for survival. Two things resulted in her survival: one, that the stub round was defective, resulting in it being underpowered; two: it had struck the aquila necklace, causing the round to tumble enough to only scrape the heart rather than blast it open. An infection left her weak and unable to leave the hospital bed:once she was so ill she nearly returned to the Emperor's side.
When she left the hospital bed and returned to her studies, a full year later, she had fallen behind. She was permitted to study on her own - something she did well. The only times she would choose to interact with others was when they did dissection demonstrations and practices; these she undertook with a silent, secret enjoyment. Determined to never be overpowered, she threw herself into the combat lessons. She learned of both blades: the chainsword and the scalpel.
When she was eighteen, the Inquisitor returned to the world while checking on a lead. On a whim, he decided to check on the young hostage he had saved years ago. He found a determined, fearsome woman - and he did need a medicae, after all...
