I like smooth over aliased. Aliased looks jagged, smooth can look good, especially with the right backgrounds.

I'd say the softness of the original looks better than the crispness of the aliased one. However, since the original sounds like it'd be much more work, I'm fine with losing a little bit of the aesthetic appeal (At least in my opinion) in favor of more Descent.

I like the Aliased version, myself, but that's personal preference. I've always enjoyed pixely things. (Which is why I like SotN so much X3)

Might make it smooth enough that I can't tell the difference.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Okay so real question time. Which style would you prefer?

Original: Anti-aliased, has to be redrawn every pose, not very good for reusable sprites.
Aliased: Duh, can be easily manipulated, and perfect for sprites (Or would be if I wasn't pretentious and took out the lines). A bit dirty-looking.
Well...the Aliased one lacks hair accessories. :-\
I'm going for the right (though the left one looks smooth. Is it possible to get the original as a different layer to be reused easily?)

I like the original more, personally.

The one on the left looks a bit nicer, but I think that's mostly important for introductions.  Afterwards the aliased sprite is fine.

What are you using to make your images?

There's no reason a smooth image can't be reusable if you're making generic poses if you have something with layers?

Still busy, so have an updated style-comparison sheet. It's a bit rushed, hence the missing left hand and a slightly glassy expression.

Probably, I'm just kind of OCD and prefer to move things using magic wand rather than rectangling the selection, so modifying things on antialias kind of annoy me.
