I've been playing DF on and off since DF2013 and I really enjoy the game for many reasons. I've tried to get some of my friends to play, but so far they're either not into the ASCII graphics, or they're not into strategy / simulation / city building games. Even programmers I had studied with don't seem to share my fascination for the game and its mechanics.

I would just be interested to see how many of us play the game, and perhaps to get to know some of our local players. Maybe even have people to talk to about DF in local gaming fairs for a change!

Same experience: people are conceptually interested in it, but the learning curve is really hard and off-putting. I even passed around my copy of the book Getting Started to no avail.
