Prologue: Forging an Inquisitor

Located on the Ultima Segmentum, the Corvus Sub Sector has been the battlefield for countless skirmishes in the last few centuries. Eldar pirates, Ork tribes, Tau expansion and propaganda, the occasional rebellious or renegade army... It has been centuries since the last time the Sub Sector was able to provide the Imperium of Man with the ammunition, men, machines and materials necessary for its war effort in nearby areas, as the planets in the Sub Sector are fighting their own petty wars.

The Inquisitor Lords of the Aquilian Sector have sent you, a young and recently appointed Inquisitor, to the Sub Sector in order to reclaim all of it for the Emperor, so its vast resources can be put to good use in the wars across the Segmentum. Lord Inquisitor Cornellius, head of the Aquilian Council, has given you the authority to command all Imperial forces in the Sub Sector. Now it is your time to show the heretics, xenos and rebels the wrath of the Holy Ordos of the Inquisition.

But first... Who exactly are you? I am afraid the profile Lord Cornellius sent is missing, so you will have to fill this datasheet...

Ordo:

• Ordo Hereticus: The Ordo imperial citizens are most likely to deal with. They fight rebels, renegades, witches and heretics, commanding the forces of the Sisters of Battle, the Adepta Sororitas.
• Ordo Xenos: The Ordo dealing with the extermination of the xenos that plague the galaxy. They usually have lots of forbbiden knowledge, for there are thousands of xenos species in the galaxy, and an Inquisitor has to know how to fight all of them. They command the forces of the Deathwatch, Space Marines of the Adeptus Astartes.
• Ordo Malleus: The Ordo dealing with the Ruinous Powers and daemons. Their fight is the most secret ones, and those dealing with them are usually executed so corruption doesn't spread. They have access to the best equipment the Imperium has to offer, and command forces of the Grey Knights, a secret Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes, but they are even less popular than their counterparts of other Ordos.
• Other: There are a lot of minor Ordos, and a lot of Inquisitors unaligned with any Ordo. They don't enjoy as many privileges as other Inquisitors, but other Inquisitors don't consider them as rivals as often, and they usually have more freedom of actions.

World of Origin:

• Schola Progenium: You were born in a world of the Schola Progenium, the Imperial Schools. The Child of deceased Imperial officers, you were trained since your birth, and it's possible that no you were chosen to become an Inquisitor from an early age. In the Schola, you learnt the Imperium's history, as well as strategy, tactics and the basics of fighting.
• Hive World: One among billions, you were born in a Hive World, where space is a precious resource, and violence is part of everyday's routine. You were forced to evade the street gangs while trying to survive, and learnt the basics of technology, fighting and running to save your life. The constant danger also left you with a sixth sense for knowing when you are in danger.
• Fortress World: Where you were born, war was everyday's business. You were expected to fight since you were able to hold your las rifle, and learnt a lot about weapons and the battlefield. Although you didn't know much about technology, you know how to use almost any weapon in the galaxy. And the constant fighting made you tough.
• Void Born: You were born in a spaceship, and you lived in one for most of your live. Slender, and taller than average, you look weird to most humans, and even though your genes are pure, you do have a sixth sense for all things of the Warp. You are also way more familiar with Imperial technology than most, as your survival depended on your knowledge and your ability to keep the ship working.
• High Born: You were born a member of a noble family of the Empire. Living a life of luxury, you were able to learn about whatever you wanted, accessing knowledge few others had. You were also taught from childhood about the importance of diplomacy, and how it could help you to achieve your objectives.

Training:

• Sage: You learnt about many things, both common and forbidden. Knowledge is power, they say, and you wanted to be powerful. Your learning even allowed you to discover your own, limited, psychic potential. These psychic powers are, however a bit difficult to control, as you lack formal training. However, your knowledge will prevent you from falling... Or at least you think so. It was your knowledge that made Lord Inquisitor Cornellius take notice of you, and it was your knowledge what allowed you to become an Inquisitor.
• Sanctioned Psyker: Your psychic powers became evident at a young age, and the Inquisition took you to Holy Terra for your Rite of Sanctioning. You became an official Imperial Psyker, and you continued your training for many years, serving wherever the Empire needed you the most. Eventually, you were noticed by Lord Cornellius, and after serving as an acolyte and interrogator, you eventually became an Inquisitor.
• Officer: You fought with the Imperial Guard, and eventually your fighting skill made you become an officer. Had you stayed in the Imperial Guard, you would have made a great colonel or general some day, but your skill made Lord Inquisitor Cornellius notice you, and he decided you could be useful to him.
• Rogue: You were a criminal. Fighting for yourself and only yourself. Smuggling, theft, murder... If it could help in keeping you alive, it was a good thing. In the end, you were caught. You thought you would end up in a penal legion or worse. But a certain Inquisitor was interested in you, and took you as his acolyte. After some time, you eventually became an Inquisitor yourself, and you haven't forgotten the skills that made you useful in the first place.
• Arbiter: You were a member of the Adeptus Arbites, and helped put down rebellions against the Holy Emperor of Mankind. You were brutal and efficent, respected by your peers and feared by the criminal scum. After making a name for yourself, when everyone expected that you would become a Judge, you were contacted by an Inquisitor. You became an Interrogator, and your skills were put to good use. After some time, you eventually made it to the rank of Inquisitor.
• Rogue Mercenary: For years, you were a free soul. Pirate, mercenary, corsair... People used those names for you, but you were a survivor, using everything and anything necessary. Anything that could be used in a fight was fair game, so when you discovered that you were a psyker, you tried to use that to your advantage. Unfortunately, one of your clients turned out to be an Inquisitor. You were afraid he would kill you, but instead, he took you as his Interrogator. Only recently, when you became an Inquisitor, have you regained the freedom you used to have, but you have to admit that Inquisitorial authority is a good thing to have for a survivor.
• Priest: You became a priest of the Ecclesiarchy, and you reached a high degree of authority before your fervor and knowledge made Lord Inquisitor Cornellius become interested. You were thrilled to work with the Inquisition, and it wasn't long before you were an Inquisitor yourself. Able to inspire the masses and armed with faith and the knowledge of the Holy Ordos, you serve the Holy Emperor of Mankind.

Background: As firstborn son of the Llane family and heir to their extravagantly wealthy shipping and transportation enterprise on the civilized world of Oneiros V, Gwydion learned from a very young age how to navigate the battlefields of social gatherings and cruise liners as smoothly as a Kriegan with a lasgun facing down a cadre of Howling Banshees. However, though everyone expected great things of him, no one saw it coming when Gwydion revealed himself as a Psyker by inadvertently setting afire half of a ceremonial banquet table. In hindsight, they really shouldn't have insisted he try the shrimp.

"Psyker!" they'd screamed. "Monster!" cried still more. Before the growing mob of courtiers and politicians could hurt him in their terror, however, they were stalled by another voice above all:  The unchallengeable word of an Inquisitor, who had just so happened to be present while searching for potential Genestealer cults. Where the masses were blinded by fear, Gwydion's patron saw potential. He was taken for Psyker training at Holy Terra itself, and eventually emerged with their sanction -- the sanction to bring the Emperor's will upon all those who dare to resist.

With his legacy of higher birth, sharp wits, experience in dealing with the political machinations that run rampant throughout the Imperium, and recently-mastered control over the protean powers of the Warp, it didn't take long for the Inquisition to take a much greater interest in him. Now assigned to the Ordo Xenos and deployed to the Corvus sub-sector under the patronage of Lord Cornellius, Inquisitor Gwydion Llane stands ready to make his mark in a universe ravaged by war, and bring the Emperor's light to all Xenos who profane the purity of mankind with their presence.

It is... It has been for a loooong time. Go to any Codex that has Inquisitors. You will see the option to have them become Psykers. Also, tons of Psyker Inquisitors in novels by almost every author.

((How this will play out in my mind...Were going to gather all Imperial strenght and then kick these Orks in the mouth. Then were going to give an ultimatum to the Eldar. Leave or get kicked in the mouth. Then were going to just kick the Tau in the mouth because the Emperor wills it. lol)

Just one note. The game will be mostly grand strategy and roleplaying with a bit of smaller scale tactics on the side (specially at the beginning).

Tentative backstory finished. Also, after looking through the Inquisition's page, I've noticed that most Inquisitors seem to belong to 'Factions' which all have their own ideas about what code of conduct they should follow / how the Imperium should be run. i.e, some Inquisitors might follow the Imperial law to the letter, whilst others think that ANYTHING they do is justified as being in the best interests of the Imperium, or even willed by the Emperor himself. Are we required to choose a Faction? Or is that just a roleplaying thing for flavor later?

Is it normal for Psykers to be corrupted by the Void? If so, why is it that the Emperor and the Regent of Terra (forgot his name) were not corrupted?
