Pyramids are impractical for impressive weapon uses. Sure, you could kill people by having magma flow from the top, but where are the theatrics in that? Cubes and various derivatives of said shape are better.

True but the fact they are impractical makes completing and useing it all the more thatrical therefore makeing it an equal in dwarfiness to other methods that are both practical and theatrical.

Building it higher may even let it be more dwarfy than other things based on size

Weird devices that look like a cube version of the death star are always better than mere pyramids. Spheres that seem to have chainsaw-shaped buildings sticking out of them are even better.
