((I think I'm gonna drop this game. Lots of tension.))

Understandable. It's not for everyone. Do you want me to strike your character down, or just leave her in the town? (if the former you'll have to make a new character if you play again, if the latter, you must play with that character the next time you play)
((I like the game. Maybe I'll come back to it, so my character can just idle in town.))

Kala observed from a distance, cautiously.
"Curious... perhaps one of my more armoured companions should try fiddling it with the rings, in case it sets off a trap. I am rather fragile."
Study the runes - why are they familiar?

They are written in the standard alphabet, but are just a string of characters. In other words, nonsense. Well, the one on the left is, the one on the right is perfectly legible, it reads:

Odd, yet comon[sic]
Uneven, yet balansed[sic]
I am the charm
I am the company

You can find me
By mistake

Answer: 1

Examine the rings, and the fountain.

The rings are simple rusted iron. Nothing special or distinguishing about them. They are bolted to the wall and floor, you would guess, securely. The fountain requires you to kneel and bring the torch close. It is of great quality, though chipped here and there. You guess water is supposed to flow from the gourd into the base, but it hasn't happened in a long time. There is a small round hole at the base, probably where the water drains. Nothing else of import can be discerned

Gotcha. Come back anytime.

Also forgot to mention:

There is a long wooden tube (about 2 feet in length)  parallel to, and attached to, the left wall. Kala (Professional Scholar) immediately recognizes the tube as a scytale, a rather archaic method of encoding/decoding messages, usually used in the battlefield for its speed and ease.

Action: What are the letters on the scytale and how many spaces does it have?

((Sorry about lack of updates/attention. I haven't even read this thread until just now. Been having a bad week.))

(( NP, my patience is infinite :D Hope this week is a better one for you ))

There are no letters on the scytale, it is just a long cylindrical piece of wood about as thick as your thumb, lengthwise. Underneath it, on the floor, along the wall, are thin, long strips of leather. They look kind of like belts, but are pale brown and very -almost paper-thin. Kala supposes they are used with the scytale.

"Do you suppose it's like invisible ink or something?" Logan asked, gesturing at the strips of leather.

Kala sat crosslegged down as she thought.
"You can only find me by mistake... perhaps? Unless we are meant to copy the written wall to the parchment and wind that across.... hmm."

Logan lit a cigarette off the torch. "Well, dropping something in water could be considered a mistake, and I still think it's some invisible ink business. Lemme try this."

Pour a little water from our supplies (I'm assuming we have canteens and such) onto one of the leather strips. Not too much, just a little, and see if anything happens.

Pour a little water from our supplies (I'm assuming we have canteens and such) onto one of the leather strips. Not too much, just a little, and see if anything happens.

The strip gets a little wet, absorbs some of the water, the rest of just rolls off or evaporates. Nothing happens.

(( Guys, please look up scytale if you haven't already (or maybe Kala can roleplay an explanation) and re-read the section describing your surroundings - take a look at the drawing of the dead-end as well. ))

Kala explains what the scytale is and what it was for.
That said, she hummed.
"Try warming it perhaps. A lot of invisible inks only reveal themselves with heat. Though I do not think that it is invisible ink, no."

Action: Look to the gobbledegook left. Is it possible it means anything upside down or backwards? What are the characters all together? Could they be unscrambled somehow?

Also, take a look down that tiny hole in the fountain. Can I make out anything?

((Also, I don't think it's invisible ink either. :P Someone needs to try that crank in the middle of the gear-thing eventually. I think the room might rotate around or something. There's no other context we can work with except for the riddle which I can't make any sense of. If it's Scytale, I can't figure out how to put any of the letters together. Still working on it...))
