"Well. What's to be made of that?" Arvin says, tapping his staff on the stone softly.

Eventually, Kala sat back, rubbing at her temples.
"Nothing particularly friendly."
She read it out, stumbling over some of the particularly hard to translate.
"Whoever came up with that reading system should be hanged. But yes, good and ominous...

Then shall come two by two,
Four to you, not for you.

Hopefully not talking about us, but prophecy and wretched things to be part of."

"Well, I suppose we're prophesied to succeed then." Arvin comments dryly. "I do think the final line indicates four people are supposed to drink twice...I admit, I'm curious.

Still, should we truly consider following this place to the treasure chamber-meeting a being that is apparently deathless and likely quite mad. Consider the age of the room, and how much time has passed since she wrote this."

((OOC: Oh yeah, Bahihs, you missed my earlier action-were there any obviously valuable books in the stacks I was searching? You don't have to random generate 50 book titles for me, just tell me if I find anything 'good'.))

"And yet, I can't help but feel pity for her. Pride is a stronger cage than steel...but, no one deserves to be locked in the dark like this. If we do meet, she'll need our assistance...but the only thing we have to offer her is drinking from that chalice. I can't think of any reason yet why we couldn't assist her...for a price. We will be in a unique position to bargain, won't we?"

"She might have been locked up for a reason. If she's, say, a powerful magician, unleashing her could be disastrous," Logan pointed out reasonably. "Also it would be hard to explain that we're looting the place to her. We might leave with nothing."

"As for the looting, she can't have expected otherwise-her own prophecy said so. But yes, I think we should try to avoid her, if possible...take what we can and get out.

It's likely she already knows we're here, though. That rotating hallway makes plenty of noise.

...

...On the bright side, since she's probably not dead, I guess we can't get cursed for looting her tomb."
Arvin notes.

"It's entirely possible she doesn't waste her time on anyone who can't wade through the dungeon to meet her. Even if only a person comes every dozen or a hundred so years, that's a lot of fools who'll she probably have to fight to keep away from her treasures. I'd imagine it was fun at first, but the excitement no doubt paled over time. Or perhaps she's already watching and listening to us right at this moment, and doesn't feel the need to intervene...until she's assessed our abilities and strengths." Arvin says dryly.

"Maybe she's asleep. Or maybe she's just too weak to move from whatever spot she's currently inhabiting. Most likely Arvin is correct; anyone who comes here is looking for the treasure, so why waste time chasing them down? Just wait there and deal with anyone who actually makes it."

"I guess we'll find out for ourselves, sooner rather than later...

While we're here, maybe we should discuss our move forward, once we've searched the last room. We can either risk a labyrinth, or her pet...or backtrack and see what the other path offers.

I'm not fond of either, really. We could risk the Labyrinth, I suppose-assuming there is some puzzle to find our way through. But, we may be able to pass the pets tomb without a fight. Who can say if it's actually a threat, or not?"

"If we're lucky, it might have already died like most of the birds." Logan extinguished his cigarette, put it away, and got to his feet. "Too bad, that. Ancient birds - aside from the phoenix - might have been worth some coin."

"We might get lucky, yes." Arvin says, idly flipping back through the cookbook. "...huh, I think is a cocktail recipe...with bacon...?"

((GM man, we still waiting on if any of the other books are valuable.))

*flip flip flip*

"...tomato juice...and vodka...how come I never thought of that? ...I could call it a bloody Kala..."

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You read the above from a book entitled: "One hundred Rivers of Wisdom". There are several other interesting books (i.e one's you can actually read): "The Star Goddess' Followers", "Inscriptions of the Immortals", "Examining the Territory's Economic Revolutions" and "An Overview of A Troll's Sex Life" (the latter is painfully graphic). There are more, of course, but they will require time (and a Scholar check) to sift through.

((Unfortunately, I really do like books. :P Sercon, Gillymash, you have permission to drag Arvin away.))

Arvin seemed to have zoned out at the books, and he had sat cross leg on the floor and begun reading.

Action: Peruse the 'The Star Goddess' Followers'

"Star Goddess? I wonder if she's a cute Goddess..."
